Ranville War Cemetery, Ranville
(5/5 based on 120+ reviews on the web)
Pay your respects to the sacrifice of Allied soldiers at Ranville War Cemetery, dedicated to those who fell in the early battles following the D-Day invasion in World War II. Visit the cemetery, fittingly located near the first town liberated by the Allies, which features neat rows of more than 2,500 graves. The neatly kept grounds feature understated headstones and crosses, including that of the first Allied soldier killed on D-Day. While most of the soldiers interred here hailed from Great Britain, there are also a sizable number from Canada and other Allied nations, as well as a German contingent. You can use the website to find a specific name or grave, if you wish. Put Ranville War Cemetery and other Ranville attractions into our Ranville family vacation planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • Visit this cemetery following the visit of the Merville battery where we learn the history of this young English soldier dead with his dog. Symbolic place where many British names are based there. Let's not forget!
