Chateau of Rambouillet, Rambouillet

3.5
#2 of 9 in Things to do in Rambouillet
A modified 14th-century stronghold at the heart of the Rambouillet forest, Chateau of Rambouillet is a royal residence with beautiful interiors and exteriors. François I, the Count of Toulouse, the Duke of Penthièvre, Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette, Napoleon I, and many others have visited. In 1883, the site then became the official residence of the presidents of the French Republic. Stop at the Queen's Dairy, a small sandstone building in the form of a Neoclassical temple. Look for the artificial cave with outer foliage, a marble sculpture of Julien, a nymph, and the goat Amalthée. In the English garden, visit the cottage built by the Duke of Penthièvre for the Princess de Lamballe. Its unusual decoration is made from shells, chips of marble, and mother of pearl. A small toilet cubicle with painted wooden paneling is adjacent to the great hall. • Very pretty when it's nice and very large park for a walk in the full area can also be a fuck pic

  • For €8, you will see that 4 pieces, 1 furnished single, other walls are covered with white panels with copies of paintings by the Kings of France. No written or oral guide. In all, in 15 minutes, you did the trick! Purely outrageous, or even inadmissible!

  • We intend to visit the dairy again open to the public. To get to the castle is already a trial, a sign at 2 km from the city and then nothing. We finally found "the fold of the King" and in this park the dairy. A sign on the door indicates 2 visits per day, 10:30 and 14: 00. Tickets must buy the Castle at 13:30. Distance dairy Castle 1 km to walk. 13 h 30 at the Castle, person. Around 13:45 a person appears who explains that they are open recently, and that the laiteire cannot be visited at 15:30, subject there is enough registrants. And for safety, no free visit. We left, at least we will have benefited from the Park.

  • Lovely place, totally recommend to visit the castle and then wander around the lovely parc which is open most of the time. Gotta say the grass is just great and there's many lakes and fountains... Recommend it for a sunny day tho.
  • After more than 14 month of work, we can enjoy the castle.
