Experience life under Nazi-occupied France at Mémorial de la Liberté Retrouvée, a museum dedicated to documenting and displaying a timeline of World War II's most important events. When the country fell to the Germans in 1940, life changed dramatically for its citizens. Follow these changes from defeat to liberation, when in 1944 Allied forces triumphantly swept in from the beaches at Normandy. Learn about how French people coped, tried to go about their normal lives, and ultimately organized a significant resistance. Wander the recreated streets, homes, and shops designed to appear as they did during the war, complete with dioramas of everyday scenes. For travelers who use our international travel planner, Quineville holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Mémorial de la Liberté Retrouvée and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.
