Purcaraccia, Quenza

4.6
#10 of 12 in Nature in Corse-du-Sud
For an unforgettable adventure, visit Purcaraccia, a canyon with fun rock and water slides and emerald green pools. Your older children will love sliding down the rockslides with water flowing down into pools. Two waterfalls are on either side of the rockslides, one at a height of 40 m (130 ft) and the other at 8 m (26 ft). The walk to get to the creek takes about an hour via the narrow and often steep footpath, so this can be a difficult trudge for very young children, elderly folks, or people with physical disabilities. Due to the interesting landscape and aura of adventure, this is a popular place for tourists.

Amid granite rocks heated by the sun, many basins or natural pools carved into the rock provide swimming opportunities if you're brave--the water is a cool 14 C (57 F). Getting to the pools is an adventure itself; a path leads into the brush with grand views of the imposing Bavella Needles. There's a giant vertical rock wall on the right side above you where you'll cross the stream and climb up on the opposite side to reach the first pool. The steep path leads to a sequence of pools and slides creating a dramatic landscape. Put Purcaraccia on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Quenza vacation planner.

Beautiful hiking, however this is difficult to access, I recommend for children (slope, abundant and steep, slippery rock) must right shoe market (not tong or other). The path is not indicated but must park at the neck of the arone and down along the road there is a small path on the right then it's instinctive. The view is beautiful and natural pools they are splendid do not come too late if this is quickly crowded (come in the morning to 9-10 h) 40-45 minute walk before reaching the first basins

The path is very easy at the beginning (trace easily identifiable and in the shade) but becomes more and more difficult (risk of falling). Some parts are close to climbing: not to do with children or in tong! Otherwise the river is superb and the beautiful landscape!
