  • Leaving Bretenoux, it must follow the road that leads to the castle of Castelnau-Bretenoux, located in the Department of the Lot, is the most imposing medieval fortress of Quercy, its construction took place over several centuries, from the 12th century to the 17th century. the castle is visible from far away and recognizable by its walls of Red stone. It is an overall triangular shape: the Dungeon of 7 m and 30 m high, the walls are 2 m thick, the room of the first floor is vaulted on cross. Respect his conception: triple Chamber, wide curtain walls, deep ditch, nine round towers. The Castle Church, built in the 14th century has been classified historical monument, at the foot of the Castle, a restaurant-bar allows to eat. Great panoramic view of the Dordogne Valley.

  • Great Castle, beautiful medieval village, a beautiful collection of furniture and objects then, and above all a passionate and exciting guide!

  • The most beautiful part of this castle visit only by guided tour. The guide we had was really good and he traced a very exciting story about moments key that have marked the life of the Castle. Access to the castle is not simple (a road that goes up strong enough and during some time to walk)

Located on the Valley of the Dordogne, the Castle has magnificent panoramic view from Beynac, Marqueyssac to Roque Gageac. The castle of Castelnau-Bretenoux is open for the public to visit in 1985 with another name "medieval War Museum". It also kept a large collection of weapons, armor, medieval widgets ... • Tour of the Castle at the price of €7.5 and with a guide who knows very well his subject. The view at the top of the tower is beautiful.

  • Very pretty Castle which is worth a visit. Paid visit with or without a guide. (guide makes you visit the Interior of the Castle "living rooms") For the visit with the guide too much description on the last owner than on the lives of the unfortunate Castle.
