The Camargue, Provence
(4.4/5 based on 160+ reviews on the web)
Ride a white Camargue horse on a nature tour through The Camargue area, western Europe's largest river delta. See black bulls and more white horses grazing in the fields. Eagles, hawks, and harriers soar above, and muskrats swim along the little canals. This area was designated as a botanical and zoological preserve in 1927 and 1970, helping to maintain its natural beauty. Many companies offer guided horseback tours. You also can take a boat ride into the delta, if you prefer. The Camargue is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our online itinerary creator, Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer Edition.

  • You almost need to see it to appreciate the uniqueness of the terrain. Flat, really flat. Wetlands, farm land, pastures, beautiful white horses, bulls with long horns and birds. Especially flamingos; ...  more »
  • The Camargue is one of the regions of France that I love the most. Arid spaces, horses, birds, Bulls, and at night the sound of the guitars that resonate to the Holy couple of the sea. For lovers of nature, this corner is still preserved tourist buildings. If you pass in the Camargue, stop you the Holy bride and groom of the sea, where it is better to go in may or septembre(beaucoup de monde l'été mais bon...), this village is all white, with tunes of Spain where it is good to wander a good restaurant (chez jeanne) or in the evening in the evenings Gypsy (the best-known are at el campo and Boisset). But there are others also... Then continue mainly to Méjanes, walk along the pond of Vaccarès to go to the beach of Bauduc or of the piemenson (the flamingos are the night at sunset. The Camargue is wide, take the time to visit by bike or on foot. More is not very far from the leases of Provence if you wish to change the landscape.

  • Beautiful area with wild horses, wild cows and flamingos. It feels a-typical French. Though very touristy in some places. A must see as a nature area.
