The chapel of Tremalo and its surroundings (wide alleys of beech and oak trees, farms and neighbouring manors) were well-known artists, as one of their favorite goals of walk. The building of the sixteenth, at the edge of the forest of love, is wearing an asymmetrical roof whose North Slope almost touches the ground. At the foot of the flat chevet supported by two robust buttresses, rises a modest monolith Calvary in granite. We find the arms of the Lords of du Plessis, founding family of the chapel in several places. At the bedside, between the main window and the northern foothills. Above the entrance porch, placed in a shell St Jacques in the hands of an Angel. The South end, in a coat of arms placed between the legs of a lion. Finally, painted on patches of wood inside the chapel. Inside, the chapel has maintained its 3 altars wooden and his statuary: Madonna and child in limestone of the fifteenth, Sainte Anne teaching the Virgin, Saint Corentin, Saint Laurent and the grill of his martyr, Saint Etienne and the stones of its martyr. The beams and sandpits carved grotesque figurines in polychrome wood would represent the 7 deadly sins. Outside, in front of the South Gate, between two Oaks several times centenarians, if student a calvary monolith granite, bearing the date of 1807. Gauguin and the Tremalo A chapel inside the building is also a christ in polychrome wood from the 17th that inspired Paul Gauguin for his work "the Yellow Christ" in 1889. During this summer 1889, he painted several religious theme paintings: the Green Christ inspired of her Pieta from the plight of Nizon, a self-portrait where it is represented in Christ in the garden of olive trees, the Yellow Christ and the self-portrait with the Yellow Christ. These works testify to the interest in Gauguin life and religious art of the Britons: "everything exudes belief passive suffering style primitive religious and great nature with his cry" he wrote. This chapel was painted by many other artists. The Chapel, painted by Emile Jourdan and Pierre-Eugène Clairin, are exposed to the Museum of Pont-Aven. the oldest known representation of Pont-Aven is a scene out of mass in the chapel of Tremalo painted in 1864 by Otto Weber, a Danish painter. Open daily from 10: 00 to 17: 00 - 10: 00 to 18: 00 from July to September with an exhibition of reproductions "Gauguin or the smuggler injured." Entry free masses next Sunday of the Sainte Anne (26 July, forgiveness of the chapel) and August 14 in the evening after the procession from Nizon
