Chateau Belingard, Pomport
(5/5 based on 35+ reviews on the web)
Named after the Celtic sun god, Chateau Belingard boasts a 200-year-long history of producing red and white wines. Nestled on a green hillside, the chateau has been home to seven generations of wine-makers. It was first restored in the 1820s, while the vinery went through a modernization process during the 1960s and 1970s. Those who wish to admire the scenic views and discover the chateau's history at their own pace can take self-guided tours by using a smartphone or a tablet provided at the reception. The gardens feature an ancient sacrificial chair-shaped altar carved into a rock. • A beautiful location for this castle which we visit the Park. A Tablet we lent to our arrival and small video explain us the work in the vineyard and the way it makes the wine. A young woman then receives us for tasting during which she gives us all the information about the different wines of the property. As the wine is very good and the person is friendly, we're back with several boxes of course. Note that there are for all tastes and all price which allows to walk away with quality wine without breaking the Bank... In any case, we had a great afternoon

  • We have visited Chateau Belingard many times, taking small groups of guests partaking in a tour of the Dordogne we run each year. The welcome and friendliness of Laurant and Sylvie Bosredon and all their staff is an absolute delight. As other reviewers have noted the tasting is very complete and you can taste the full range of the wines they produce. Personally we much prefer the rosés of the Bergerac region to those of other regions and Chateau Belingard certainly produce, amongst their other very nice wines, a superb rosé. If you are doing a tour of the region and are interested in wines a visit to Chateau Belingard is a must, and if you do get to meet either Laurant or Sylvie it will be a special day to remember.
