Chateau Belingard, Pomport

#30 of 39 in Historic Sites in Dordogne
Winery / Vineyard Castle
Named after the Celtic sun god, Chateau Belingard boasts a 200-year-long history of producing red and white wines. Nestled on a green hillside, the chateau has been home to seven generations of wine-makers. It was first restored in the 1820s, while the vinery went through a modernization process during the 1960s and 1970s. Those who wish to admire the scenic views and discover the chateau's history at their own pace can take self-guided tours by using a smartphone or a tablet provided at the reception. The gardens feature an ancient sacrificial chair-shaped altar carved into a rock.
