Pointe du Raz, Plogoff
Categories: Landmarks, Tourist Spots
A dramatic place with crashing waves and strong winds, Pointe du Raz is a promontory that extends into the Atlantic. The local Breton name for the point is Beg or Raz, and the name means "the end of the world." The lighthouse "La Vieille" is clearly visible from the rocks, and you can walk the breathtaking cliff top to view the perilous waters, the intriguing island, and charming fishing ports. The first half hour is free, but it is impossible to go to the tip and back in a half hour. So you pay 6 euros for 45 mins. It's really a scam to tourist. Prefer the tip of the Van, a little further and with free parking.show original

And the price can be prohibitive: 6,5 euros. And impossible to Park further of course... The excuse may seem commendable: the money raised is used to preserve the environment of the site, protection of vegetation etc... Good excuse in my opinion, pay for a natural site is a shame. Why do pay that when the site receives a lot of people if not for s put their pockets... S talk about "tourists shops" right after the parking lot. In short a wild place that has become a tourist attraction. As much focus on d other sites in the area such as the tip of Van right next door or the edge of Penn-Hirr equally magnificent and free access dshow original

One of the best places of bretagne. It's really wild. Usually the weather has strong wind, so be aware of that. It's a 30 min walk from the parking, but it is very pleasant. Go see there the sunset!
Views are magnificent and the walk around the cliff is great with full of fresh air.The car park is 6 euros...but this still remains a place to go during your holidays in Brittany. The country side in the area is also beautiful.
I have been there 30 years ago with my Dad. I still think about it all the time. The water was so clear, the sky so beautiful, the wind and waves a reminder of nature's power. One of the most beautiful and impressive locations in my memory. I wish I could go back and see it once again. I hope it is still as untouched as it felt back then.
Loïc LAVAILLThe necessary preservation of the coast makes the mandatory parking filter, and I imagine that charges (high, certainly) are used in full to finance the maintenance of the landscape and the coast. I'm told that the place had certainly lost its side "wild-west" but there had won in cleanliness and facilities... In all cases the pointe du raz is a place that will remain wild by nature and I have had the impression to be tiny. The restaurants are tourist traps, but after all this is part of the law of supply and demand. A special mention however for the restaurant (without naming him) who has dared charge US € 19 a plate of smoked fish in which there were 6 skinny fillets...! Prefer to order a pancake or crepe, you'll be better served!show original
