Castillet, Perpignan
(3.8/5 based on 280+ reviews on the web)
Castillet was formerly the gate of the city and then a prison. Now it's a historic monument where you can explore the Catalan Museum of Arts and Popular Traditions. The building is known for its variation on military architecture, featuring turrets, crowning battlements, and Moorish-style consoles. The structure was built as a strong defensive castle, but over time it also has served as a prison and a public building. Alterations include the addition of statuary and the removal of certain defensive components, such as the drawbridge. However, you can still see the battlements, barred windows, and domed watchtower. Our Perpignan tourist route planner makes visiting Castillet and other Perpignan attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • Input bit expensive €2 by people nice and the explanations are interesting, too bad that the visit is not guided because you have to read a bunch of panels which makes the visit a bit less attractive... the view of Perpignan is superb

  • For such a great, historic building, it was disappointing to visit and not be told many stories about its past. It's worth a look (and cheap to visit) but could be so much better.
  • Beautiful work that reminds the fortifications in the past. Must go upstairs! Many markets however... Dogs are not allowed... so

  • No crec que valga la pena entrar-hi.
  • hi ha penjada la senyera
  • Pretty lame and shady town. Nothing really to see and it looks like it was just bombed ..many streets are in a bad shape. Do not waste your time.
  • Witness to the rich history of the city and remains of the fortifications destroyed in the name of modernism in the 19th century.
