History Museum Museum
Founded in 1835, Musée d'art et d'archéologie du Périgord functions as a site dedicated to archeology and ethnography. The museum has more than 2 km (1.2 miles) of permanent exhibitions showing about a tenth of its 45,000 works. Highlights include the fossil skeleton from Regourdou (a 90,000-year-old Neanderthal) and engraved reindeer from Limeuil. In 1857, the museum began to feature fine art--the current collection includes paintings, sculpture, decorative arts, and architectural pieces, arranged by century.   • We visited here in August 2015 whilst staying in the area, a very interesting museum to spend an hour or so, would recommend if you are in the area.  more »

  • A Museum and an archaeological site: two in one. A gigantic space cube of glass, concrete and steel horse on Earth and stone. A roof suspended showing the plan of successive foundations of the domus. The Tower of Vesonne in the middle of the gardens in the background! And remains commented, organised entertainment... A real plus for the city!
