This castle is perhaps the most significant object. Here was born the future King of France, Henry IV, known to many by Dumas ' Queen Margot "(the book can be bought in Soviet times, collecting 20 kg of waste paper, hence the massive popularity). The Castle belonged to his grandfather on his mother's side, Henry of Navarre. The whole Castle, situated at the end of the Boulevard, the Pyrenees proved to be a complete surprise-quite full, with the territory. I do not know whether it pays to attend a tour on tongues (hardly seriously you can count on Russian guide due to the extreme paucity of Russian tourists, zabirajushhihsja in these places), but explore the castle outside, beating it on all sides must. By the way, and you can enter the territory in different ways. Of course, a large part of the castle was rebuilt in the 19th century, but from many.

Highly recommended tour, the guide is share his passion and his good humor.! With legends and anecdotes. Count an hour. Presidential residence (the third Republic) rather than Royal as the future Henri IV, was born in the castle on 13 December 1553, neither has ever lived. The legendary birthplace of Henri IV (tortoise shell), is located on the 2nd floor in a room that an uncertain tradition gives to be his room. Various representations of the "good King" Henri adorn the walls on all sides. Magnificent collection of tapestries (16th - 19th c) especially those goblins that red is still intact. The gardens and the Castle offers beautiful views of Pau. Welcome the very good initiative of the city with the free electric shuttle COXITIS, since parking place Verdun, with many stops including one close to the Castle. Ecology is well... Act is better.

a ripoff. free tour... 7 euros without a guide... free to stand at the edge of the doors and climb 1 floor. a +, closing 10 minutes before the visit. They'll take the money sense any verbal communication, (you have to read the small line before the visit) but once upstairs we'll sum, hurry because the doors closing is imminent. It is true that to the little see the free tour...! In short a ripoff .founded by commoner private sense scruples! in 1790 as flagrant theft would have was punished by quartering. "" long live the old monarchy and the people of values "".

Nice architecture, nice furniture, valiant remains. A young guide unfortunately unable to pass any interesting knowledge... Actually it is better to take the tour for access to more rooms, but indulge in the free tour in second place for discovery of other rooms, with a few written explanations... Adults and children agreed on disappointment.. .a another guide perhaps? Probably...

Always a pleasure to visit this place with your family. Despite a possible misunderstanding of the children notice a screw guide finding enough shadow places... 😂
