Zadkine Museum, Paris

3.9
#67 of 147 in Museums in Paris
Zadkine Museum is the house of the Russian sculptor, Ossip Zadkine, and serves as a museum for many popular artistic pieces. The exhibitions in the studio and in the garden show you more than a hundred of the sculptor’s works. All periods of the creations, from the primitive to the last abstract years, are displayed.

The museum was renovated in 2012 to ensure its accessibility, and it re-opened its doors for its 30th anniversary in October 2012. Its new museography was designed to more closely reflect to you the spirit of the workshop. • To live happily, live hidden! It is indeed the case of this small museum, very intimate in the heart of the 6' District of Paris - to organize your trip, allow a light picnic at the Luxembourg, a small walk, see ice cream... and then you go to the Museum Zadkine, Russian sculptor, installed in France at the beginning of the century. Beautiful objects, a "cosy" garden, especially when it's beautiful, it's very nice!

  • Really a very nice discovery this museum ZADKINE - because I knew the artist and or the place.. The very original sculptures are very well exposed in this bright and pleasant workshop... A garden to discover as where the works are spread very smoothly... Short run ahead to change of Rodin and Bourdelle...

  • Not far from Luxembourg gardens. Confortable even on a high heat day. A lovely selections of Zadkine's works, including a peek at some of his instruments. Highly worth a visit  more »

  • Small, hidden museum. It's very brief, but it was free for me. It's great if you have some time to visit a museum, but don't want to put the effort into thinking to hard and trying to register too many informations at once, while still getting to know an interesting artist that is not too well known. The spaces are quite nice
  • Quiet place in this museum (scultor's house) near Luxembourg Garden !
  • Small but free. The actual place he did his work. Very modern.
  • This small museum is worth while visiting. The art work is interesting (only sculptures) but what was really nice was the museums location and the fact that the artist himself had lived and worked in this small house and studio. Unfortunately, however, there is not very much evidence of Zadkines' everyday life and work in the museum (like a kitchen or his studio).
  • Very beautiful and interesting art

Where to stay in Paris

Each of the city’s 20 arrondissements, or districts, has a personality all its own. If you prefer high-end accommodations and to be in the middle of the action, look for lodging in the 1st through the 4th arrondissements. For more affordable lodging and access to major metro lines, try the 12th. The Oberkampf area of the 11th arrondissement has an edgier, more hip vibe. For easy access to tourist sites,  the 16th is within a stone’s throw of the Arc de Triomph and the Eiffel Tower, and the 17th is within walking distance to the Champs-Elysées. Avoid the 18th, 19th, and 20th, because these can be dangerous, especially if you’re not familiar with the city.
