Stravinsky Fountain, Paris
(4/5 based on 120+ reviews on the web)
A whimsical public fountain ornamented with 16 works of sculpture, plus moving and spraying water representing the works of composer Igor Stravinsky, Stravinsky Fountain was created in 1983 by sculptors Jean Tinguely and Niki de Saint Phalle. The fountain is a shallow basin of 580 sq m (6,243 sq ft) above the Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique/Musique, an organization devoted to promoting modern music and musicology. Because of the offices and rooms below, the fountain was designed to be as lightweight as possible, with very shallow water, a bottom of stainless steel, and sculptures composed of plastic and other light materials. • Became a topic of conversation in 2015, Tokyo National Art NIKI, Dothan fall exhibition. She made automaton of Fountain Square next to the Pompidou Center, 1982. Is able to Centre Georges Pompidou in 1977. But now that seems in a two set 35 years ago that this art be surprised I had the space. Want to see a fountain if you go near the Pompidou Center.

  • Paris is mostly a serious place. This fountain is funny, fun and calls attention. In it, there are some colorful pieces of art (some of them even spray water). Good to see some colors in such a gray/ ...  more »

  • This is great little spot to relax and take in some public art. The fountain is full of photo opportunities, and has a real "pick me up" type vibe to it with all the bright colours and uniquely designed statues. It's a great family hangout area also, with plenty of fun and games for children and parents.
  • easy to miss this historic fountain amidst the chaos. great place to relax for a bit.
  • Busy but pleasant square surrounding the fountains themselves, which are interesting visually. Bordered by a number of cafés and patisseries, with outdoor seating.
  • Interesting fountain, nice square with cafes. Don't love the cafes that much, I wish they were a little cuter or nicer.
  • Worth popping over for a brief sit if you are in the area, don't go out of your way though.
