The Seine River is the lifeblood of the City of Lights. This former trade route is now host to many islands and bridges that lend it a romantic ambiance. For an authentic Parisian experience, walk along the banks of the river, taking in the city's bountiful monuments and historic buildings against the reflection of the water. Be sure to look out for the Pont Neuf bridge that dates back to 1607. Make Seine River a part of your Paris vacation plans using our Paris trip maker.

We really enjoyed the cruise. Great views of lots of sights. Only negative was that there were big groups of school children:

We bought a 48 hour hop-on-hop-off batobus ticket to get between the sites along the river. Lovely scenic views and a different way to see the city. Plenty of action up and down the river to see.

What a lovely place for a stroll - the river, the buildings, the bridges. Stop for a snack or a coffee and linger. See it at day time and at night.

Breathtaking! Did not get to do a boat tour but I did get to walk along the Seine a couple of times during my vacation and each time was so relaxing. My favourite fun fact about the Seine is the statue of a man called Zouave that serves the purpose of warning the city about possible floods. If he gets his feet wet, prepare for higher than normal water levels. He's located on Pont de l'Alma and if you don't know about this fact, the statue looks really out of place. It is not centered and there are not any signs that explain who he is or what the statue is doing there (or at least I did not find it). The reason it is not centered is actually because there used to be 4.

One of the pastimes of French people is to stroll along the rivers with their friends or go dating. During special occasions, there are performances along the river. The vicinity of La Seine is always full of surprises and so much discovery!
