Sainte-Odile, Paris

Categories: Churches, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.7/5 based on a few reviews on the web
A site of natural beauty, Sainte-Odile is a garden that provides a haven in the bustling city of Paris. It is a place you can stroll among the white maples of Virginia, the black pines of Austria, the blue cedars of the Atlas, and beautiful weeping birches. The little garden is a paradise for children who love to play games of knights and castles.

Among the greenery, a magnificent Byzantine-style church will awe you. The highlight of this building is surely the stained glass windows at the altar, which create a beautiful mosaic. See Sainte-Odile and all Paris has to offer by arranging your trip with our Paris vacation generator.

  • Built on the initiative of Monsignor the tool from 1935, the Church is built in reinforced concrete covered with sandstone of Saverne and pink brick. She is overcome by 3 domes of byzantine inspiration, and laterally illuminated by 3 beautiful windows that light the chapels located on the opposite side. The Bell Tower dominates the building of his impressive height. It's quite stylized and stripped and of great elegance.

  • For lovers of Art-deco and stained-glass Windows is this an absolute must ... Not only is this an architectural gem but the stained-glass Windows are by an unearthly beauty. They were made by the absolute topglazenier from this period namely Decorchemont whose great vases and coupes nowadays get sky-high prices at the auctions. Here you have dozens of square meters of pure beauty and the proof that not only the Gothic stained-glass Windows nicely. For the non-Christian visitor you need of course to the religious theme. But that's just the same with Chartres or the Sainte Chapelle ... an absolute top attraction for lovers ... for sure

  • Facade cleaning work we made last year one can see the Bell Tower take place in the middle of the all pink facade. The large stained glass window facade is composed of plates of glass that lets pass this light that gives all the splendour of this church. Come it is really a good place of contemplation.
