This North South oriented Street is from the church Our Lady of Loreto in the 9th district and ends at the foot of the butte Montmartre, Vieuville Street, in the 18th district. Its name evokes the fact that it leads to the foot of the Butte Montmartre (mound of the Martyrs) of Christians have been martyred at the time Gallo-Roman times, including the best known Saint Denis first bishop of Paris in 250. Instead of his beheading is today honored by the located Martyrium No. 11 Street Yvonne Le Tac, close to the end of the street of the Martyrs. This street is both lively and shopping and it crosses the boulevards Clichy and Rochechouart with the District of Pigalle then ends in the tourist district of Abbesses. In the part between Pigalle and Abbesses, the street goes up, and there are restaurants, cafes, shops and the cabaret "Chez Michou" to no. 80. This part of the street is enlivened late in the day, while the South before crossing "Pigalle" is rather busy during the day with traditional shops and shopping. The street crosses boulevard Rochechouart at the level of the concert hall of "La Cigale", very well known Parisians. The No. 75 just after crossing the Boulevard de Clichy and of Rochechouart, there is a show room "The couch of the world" which was originally a cabaret in 1881 frequented particularly by Charles Baudelaire and Jules Vallès. In 1873 this cabaret is transformed and renamed "Couch Japanese" where are going to happen celebrities like the realistic singer Yvette Guilbert. This place is frequented particularly by the painter Toulouse Lautrec, who will build this cabaret for his works, then by Pablo Picasso. Today this place offers concerts dedicated to the "world music" between the road from Navarino and Trudaine avenue, the street is shaded with plane trees and a small square is located at the junction with the avenue Trudaine, she even provided with green spaces. This part of the street, is charming with some food shops, cafes with terrace under the shade. This street clearly has a special charm and it is interesting to traverse it. It is accessible to the South by "Our Lady of Loreto" line no. 12 subway station, then to the North by the metro station "Pigalle" lines 2 and 12. The level of Montmartre to use metro station "Abbesses" line no. 12 by taking the rue Yvonne Le Tac in the corner of the post office.

This place fascinated me is the site that I imagined the fetish films of well dressed people without great pretensions, markets, florists, architecture, little tourism, restaurants of all kinds.

Where to stay in Paris

Each of the city’s 20 arrondissements, or districts, has a personality all its own. If you prefer high-end accommodations and to be in the middle of the action, look for lodging in the 1st through the 4th arrondissements. For more affordable lodging and access to major metro lines, try the 12th. The Oberkampf area of the 11th arrondissement has an edgier, more hip vibe. For easy access to tourist sites,  the 16th is within a stone’s throw of the Arc de Triomph and the Eiffel Tower, and the 17th is within walking distance to the Champs-Elysées. Avoid the 18th, 19th, and 20th, because these can be dangerous, especially if you’re not familiar with the city.
