Rodin Museum, Paris

(4.4/5 based on 9,000+ reviews on the web)
Dedicated to the works of the French sculptor Auguste Rodin, Rodin Museum is home to the master sculptor's workshop and contains most of his significant creations including "The Thinker," "The Kiss," and "The Gates of Hell." You'll find many of the statues displayed in the lush gardens surrounding the villa. The art on display inside is very diverse, as Rodin was an art collector in addition to being an artist himself. The awesome collection includes 6,600 sculptures, 8,000 drawings, 8,000 old photographs, and 7,000 objets d’art. Paintings you can see from Rodin’s personal collection include works by Vincent van Gogh, Camille Claudel, and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. • Discover the most beautiful works of Rodin, masterpieces from one of the fathers of modern sculpture. The famous thinker, that famous "Kiss" and the Burghers of Calais... The gates of hell and the great "Balzac" not far from the beautiful "Victor Hugo"... Danaide... and so many others... The renovation of the gardens is not yet complete, but the walk out is still very nice weather. The Museum is in the town house where the artist lived, there are also other works of art, Monet, Van Gogh and of course Camille Claudel... Small Tip: arriving Wednesday from 3 pm, you benefit from the reduced rate of at the outset.

  • I did visit the last weekend of January. THE Museum is beautiful... is not as big as others, allowing you to explore it all. The sculpture garden is very nice, unfortunately had to pass a special exhibition and the source area was not available. We include lunch in the restaurant which is in the gardens and the food was exquisite. Great to see the sculpture of the thinker and many other famous of the great Rodin.

  • An exceptional museum inside and out! Do not leave Paris without seeing this! The museum (it's a house) itself is gorgeous, but the masterpieces inside are exceptional. It includes many original pieces of Rodin's (sculptures and otherwise), as well as artwork that he himself collected during his life. Beyond the museum, the gardens are exquisite and house some of his most famous works. I highly recommend you go first thing in the morning. And although it's relatively small, prepare to spend a few hours.
  • If you enjoy things like strolling through perfectly manicured gardens and admiring gorgeous sculptures, the gardens of the Rodin Museum may be just up your alley. Most of Rodin's greatest works such as 'The Thinker' and 'Gates of Hell" are on display in the gardens. You could easily spend an hour or two wandering through the garden, lounging by the pool at the end and grabbing a coffee or lunch at the cafe inside the premises.
  • Nice garden and interesting exhibits. I found it interesting that Rodin never really finished anything but claimed it was his style. I'm going to try that out next time I don't finish a project at work.
  • Absolutely cannot be missed! Beautiful museum with a magnificent green space in the middle of Paris. With a cute little outdoor cafe, grab your book and enjoy the great outdoors with beauty and service!
  • If you love sculptures, then you must go to the Rodin Museum. If you are there in the summer, definitely add the garden visit - this is where one of the famous funny scenes from Midnight in Paris was shot. Plan to be here for at least 2 hrs and it does make sense to splurge for the audio tour, as it will help to highlight some of the artistic nuances.
