Give in to your sweet tooth at Popelini where the "choux pastry," or puff pastry, was invented. Popelini, a Parisian pastry chef, came up with this delightful cake. Admire the colorful display of pastries and choose from flavors ranging from pistachio to passion fruit. You can eat in the store or buy a few delights to take with you, and they even supply dinner party presentations. Much of the business coming here from tourists is due to word of mouth, so this very Parisian boutique bakery doesn't feel overrun. 2 favourites were rose and raspberry flavour, and salted caramel flavour. So much flavour in such a small object! Well worth getting a few to eat by yourself. Be careful with the box when taking them away as they can move in transit and stick to each other which can mix up the flavours a little.
Perfect place for a puffs (or choux a la creme in French) lover like me! My favorite one is Rose-Lichi !! Can't eat the 6-piece box all by myself!
I promise you that you cannot make a wrong decision in this store! We came to try one or two but could not decide on flavors. We ended up buying one of each, and they were all delicious. This is definitely a nice treat but pricier than expected.
If you're getting a little tired of cupcakes and macaroons, the choux pustry puffs made here offer a brilliant alternative. This small boutique patisserie makes them with different fillings - I would recommend the salted caramel option. You can buy a box to gift someone or just sample a few on the go before visiting the nearby food market, or the surrounding shops. A nice stopping point if you hit a sugar low.
