Pont-Neuf, Paris
(4.3/5 based on 750+ reviews on the web)
Despite its name, Pont-Neuf is the oldest standing bridge across the river Seine in Paris. This medieval bridge has two separate spans: one with five arches joining the left bank to the Île de la Cité, and the other with seven spans joining the island to the right bank. Be sure to note the turrets, shaped like half-moons, that give the arches their characteristic appearance. Then look for grotesque masks called "mascarons" that decorate the molding cornice on each side of the bridge. • I visited am strong rains. Walk from the Ile Saint Louis apartment, when you reach the Pont Neuf, wet shoes were soaking. Still few cars and tourists because of the rain, or in the few little did'nt see it. Back from the Pont Neuf and will I also installed a padlock without gaps on the railing behind the statue, and the equestrian statue of Henri IV on the bridge too wet in the rain watching the crotchety old man have more ways that originality or something while thinking, both on the right bank and left bank continues cobbled to returning apartment shoes to dry in a dryer.

  • This bridge, with twelve arches, connects the tip of the Ile de la cite, where Notre-Dame, the two banks of the river Seine. Although it is full of locks, not to put other, to avoid damaging the structure of the bridge.

  • Despite being one of the first bridges built the Pont Neuf is known as Bridge of love, bridge of locks. Tourist spot that looks great to be accomplished on foot, the surroundings have art fairs and shops of souvenirs.
