Pont-Neuf, Paris

#20 of 97 in Historic Sites in Paris
Bridge Historic Site
Despite its name, Pont-Neuf is the oldest standing bridge across the river Seine in Paris. This medieval bridge has two separate spans: one with five arches joining the left bank to the Île de la Cité, and the other with seven spans joining the island to the right bank. Be sure to note the turrets, shaped like half-moons, that give the arches their characteristic appearance. Then look for grotesque masks called "mascarons" that decorate the molding cornice on each side of the bridge. • Pont Neuf is the oldest standing bridge across the river Seine in Paris, France. It s great to see the amazing old town when Standing in the bridge. It is quiet pity to see some rubbish thrown in the Seine river. We all have to do more to protect this super beautiful city.
  • A nice place to hang out at one of the bars that's pop up along the Seine during the summer where you can relax, have a drink or take a picnic and people watch or wave at tourists on the boats on the river 😊
  • Nice place to go with friends and sit on the benches and have picnic by the seine
  • Known as lover's point. Make a wish, lock a lock in the bridge. For relaxing, justvmake yourself comfortable and sit on the benches. You can have real mango icecream from the nearby café. Small shops for souvenirs.
  • Incredible history, the love locks are a staple of Paris. Also a close walk to the Notre Dame cathedral!

Where to stay in Paris

Each of the city’s 20 arrondissements, or districts, has a personality all its own. If you prefer high-end accommodations and to be in the middle of the action, look for lodging in the 1st through the 4th arrondissements. For more affordable lodging and access to major metro lines, try the 12th. The Oberkampf area of the 11th arrondissement has an edgier, more hip vibe. For easy access to tourist sites,  the 16th is within a stone’s throw of the Arc de Triomph and the Eiffel Tower, and the 17th is within walking distance to the Champs-Elysées. Avoid the 18th, 19th, and 20th, because these can be dangerous, especially if you’re not familiar with the city.
