The pont Mirabeau in Paris was built between 1895 and 1897. It was listed a historical monument in 1975.GeographyThe bridge spans the Seine from the 15th arrondissement (left bank), to the 16th arrondissement. It links rue de la Convention and place Mirabeau, on the left bank, to rue de Rémusat. On the left side, upstream, is the gare de Javel of the RER, line C. The bridge is served by the Paris Metro stations Mirabeau and Javel - André Citroën.HistoryThe decision to create a new bridge to the right of the junction created by avenue de Versailles and rue Mirabeau was taken by the French President Sadi Carnot on 12 January 1893. The bridge was designed by the engineer Paul Rabel, responsible for the bridges of Paris, assisted by the engineers Jean Résal and Amédée d'Alby, and built by Daydé & Pillé.ArchitectureThe principal arch has a span of 93 meters, and the two lateral arches 32,4 m. The one on the right bank spans the road, while the one of the left bank spans the quay and extends the link over the RER railway. At the time of its construction, this was the longest and highest bridge in Paris. The bridge is 173 meters long, 20 m. wide (the roadway measures 12 m., and the two pavements 4 m. each).

  • The banks of the Seine are an easy not to overlook walk. The views are superb and we discover so silent the bridges of Paris

  • The bridge is very nice in him even with 4 statues allegories and the eponymous Mirabrau poem inscribed on a plaque. The view over Paris is beautiful day and night, with the statue of liberty, the Eiffel Tower, the modern buildings of the front of the Seine. Very good spot to watch the fireworks of July 14! For fans of Pokémon Go, there is an arena and several poke-stops on the bridge.

  • Bridge immortalized by Guillaume Apollinaire poem and made famous by Léo Ferré, Reggiani and Brassens. Imposing by its dimensions, it offers a magnificent view of the statue of liberty and the Eiffel Tower. Its metal structure is topped of beautiful statues. Accessible by Metro bleach or Mirabeau (ligne10)

Where to stay in Paris

Each of the city’s 20 arrondissements, or districts, has a personality all its own. If you prefer high-end accommodations and to be in the middle of the action, look for lodging in the 1st through the 4th arrondissements. For more affordable lodging and access to major metro lines, try the 12th. The Oberkampf area of the 11th arrondissement has an edgier, more hip vibe. For easy access to tourist sites,  the 16th is within a stone’s throw of the Arc de Triomph and the Eiffel Tower, and the 17th is within walking distance to the Champs-Elysées. Avoid the 18th, 19th, and 20th, because these can be dangerous, especially if you’re not familiar with the city.
