Pont Alexandre III, Paris

(4.7/5 based on 12,000+ reviews on the web)
Widely regarded as the most ornate, extravagant bridge in Paris, Pont Alexandre III is an arch bridge spanning the Seine that connects the Champs-Élysées to les Invalides and the Eiffel Tower district. This picturesque bridge, built from 1896 to 1900, features exuberant Art Nouveau lamps and sculptures of cherubs and nymphs at either end. Be sure to look up toward the top of the massive columns to view four gilt-bronze statues of Pegasus held by Fames that watch over the bridge. You'll want to spend an adequate amount of time looking for the hidden images that are carved into the pillars and the arch of the bridge: water spirits, cupids, sea monsters, and more. Plan your visit to Pont Alexandre III and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Paris itinerary maker.

  • It's interesting if you happen to be walking in the area. Not far from other major attraction, so it might be worth considering in your planning
  • Very beautiful and well decorated, the bridge has gold statues there is a charm. Has a great view, you can see not only the senna but also some points of interest.

  • The most romantic bridge in the world. And of course one of the most beautiful. Many famous movie scenes have been taken on it. Such as final scene of Midnight in Paris.
  • This is a place bit isolated and not crowded in the evenings (weekdays), a nice place to grab a snack or a drink and just relax by the river side after a hard days work. And yeah you can famously see the Parisian rats in the bushes as well.
  • The most beautiful bridge in Paris! Walk around it, see it from the bank. You'll fall in love with it. It's also conveniently located among several museums.
  • One of the best places to get a view of a beautiful bridge and the Eiffel Tower. The golden statues on the bridge are beautiful and so intensely iconic. A must-see.
  • As far as direct ways to cross a river go, the bridge is up there with the best of them. This one is a particularly fine example.
