Place des Vosges, Paris

#29 of 1,994 in Things to do in Paris
The oldest planned square in Paris, Place des Vosges is a quiet spot surrounded by cafes and shops. Listen to the trickle of water from one of the four fountains while sitting at a bench. Henri IV built this perfect square 140 sq m (460 sq ft) from 1605 to 1612 to use as a royal pavilion for duels. Green lawns radiate out from its center. Expertly manicured lindens surround a formal plantation of mature linden trees called a bosquet, which provide a shady oasis. • Right next to the place de la Bastille-Vosges square is very cozy and well cared for. Great for a short break and recharging of batteries. It is surrounded by various art galleries, as in Paris, located in beautiful buildings. If you are in the area of Bastille or in Marais, near the street Pas de la Mule is very worthwhile visiting.

  • This is a corner of Paris that I really like. First for the shape of the piazza (square) not very common thing to find, and then because an absolutely relaxing ... the gardens in the middle of the square are a sight. Pity that in many travel guides not or is not reported or not reported to duty ... is a real show. From how beautiful I also stop at lunch to eat at a lovely restaurant in order to enjoy even more the atmosphere. This is also the square which was the birthplace (a House that is built around) the famous Victor Hugo. As if that weren't enough already is filled with arcades, so if you were to get a drizzle ... no problem it has to repair itself. last but not least ... ... last but not least is the end ... or at the beginning of the Marais district .... don't forget to go in this corner of Paris

  • A great park for people watching. The park itself is normal but the surrounding building (or the area itself is historic). Maybe a little bit hard to find as you need to go through other building to get to the park (Hotel Sully which has become the headquarter for French Monument establishment)
  • Beautiful park in a wonderful part of Paris. Many restaurants and ice cream shops nearby, perfect to enjoy delicious food in a soothing location. Worth the detour while visiting the Marais.
  • Great place with amazing pictures to take. The stores all around are really nice. But the entrance can be hard to find.
  • An absolutely beautiful park surrounded by stunning buildings, boutiques, and restaurants. Great atmosphere.
  • Our favorite park! Amazing place for picnics. Surrounded by fine dining art museums gelato tea and perfumeries. The vegan cafe is wonderful.
