Place des Vosges, Paris
Categories: Landmarks, Tourist Spots
The oldest planned square in Paris, Place des Vosges is a quiet spot surrounded by cafes and shops. Listen to the trickle of water from one of the four fountains while sitting at a bench. Henri IV built this perfect square 140 sq m (460 sq ft) from 1605 to 1612 to use as a royal pavilion for duels. Green lawns radiate out from its center. Expertly manicured lindens surround a formal plantation of mature linden trees called a bosquet, which provide a shady oasis. With our custom trip planner, Paris attractions like Place des Vosges can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

Beautiful, comfortable, relaxing, seems to attract a potpourri of interesting & entertaining talent. Great for people watching
Typical well manicured French garden where everyone can sit and relax, or play. Children build sand castle, teenagers play balls, lovebirds hold hands, and tourists who are tired after shopping in Marais area, all enjoy the garden. There was an exhibition about linen when I was there and it's pretty interesting. And oh, Victor Hugo's house is just around the corner.

Place des Vosges was once meant to be the royal residence and here lived the aristocrats and noblemen at the time. This is one of the prettiest squares I’ve seen in Paris and felt incredibly local. The arcades along Place des Vosges is lined with many discoveries. Even the cafes look so incredibly tempting to me. I like how they look up into the garden square, as the garden is actually one of the prettiest in my opinion in Paris.
Atmosphere here is wonderful, the greenery meshes very nicely with the fine architecture surrounding the place. This area is good for an afternoon stroll while sightseeing in the general vicinity.
This is one of the most beautiful parks in Paris. A really good atmosphere! You can sit on the grass and enjoy the sunny day. The architecture is simple astonishing!
