Passage Verdeau, Paris

4.4
#59 of 147 in Museums in Paris
This covered walkway, Passage Verdeau, lends an air of elegant charm with its neoclassical glass roof and fine shops. Although connected to other passages, including passages Panoramas and Jouffroy, this lesser known aisle has a stretch of antique stores, rare bookshops, and vintage dealers, making it an interesting place for you to shop for souvenirs. You also can’t miss the century-old photo shop that has existed since 1901.

Passage Verdeau was constructed in 1847 and is named after M. Verdeau. It’s also located right next door to the famous antiques and fine art auction house of Hotel Drouot. For Passage Verdeau and beyond, use our Paris road trip tool to get the most from your Paris vacation.

  • If you are in the area or have already done all the big Paris sights, this is worth a look. But shouldn't be a priority. The architecture is more of a draw than the shops themselves, but we enjoyed wi...  more »
  • Coming from the suburb of Montmartre boulevard passage Verdeau is the first in a series of 3 passages under canopy. These passages are very bright and it's nice to wander.

Where to stay in Paris

Each of the city’s 20 arrondissements, or districts, has a personality all its own. If you prefer high-end accommodations and to be in the middle of the action, look for lodging in the 1st through the 4th arrondissements. For more affordable lodging and access to major metro lines, try the 12th. The Oberkampf area of the 11th arrondissement has an edgier, more hip vibe. For easy access to tourist sites,  the 16th is within a stone’s throw of the Arc de Triomph and the Eiffel Tower, and the 17th is within walking distance to the Champs-Elysées. Avoid the 18th, 19th, and 20th, because these can be dangerous, especially if you’re not familiar with the city.
