Passage Jouffroy, Paris

(4.4/5 based on 160 reviews on the web)
Built in 1845 to capitalize on the popularity of the older Passage des Panoramas, Passage Jouffroy is a glass-and-iron covered walkway filled with exclusive shops. It extends 140 m (460 ft) through the city, and was quite a feat for its day. It was the first Parisian passage built entirely of metal and glass and heated through the floor. Many consider this a precursor to modern shopping malls. To visit Passage Jouffroy on your holiday in Paris, and find out what else Paris has to offer, use our Paris family vacation planner.

  • This passage is located right next to the Museum Grévin, tucked away from the tourist monuments and so much the better: it is not rushed by masses of tourists and one can wander quietly from shop to shop. The shops have kept their charm: shop cannes, books, toys, decoration... It's like being transported in the nineteenth century. I recommend!

  • Is a gallery. There's coffee, a shop of canes, offal. But what charmed me were two stores thumbnails! All very beautiful!

  • Very few meters after the usual commercial destinations notes you enter this "passage", a shopping arcade of times past perfectly preserved. Bookcases, jewelry and articles now belonging to a past that no longer exists. Inevitable even restaurants and pubs with traditional food.
