Paris Military School, Paris

(4.4/5 based on 140+ reviews on the web)
Paris Military School is a vast complex of buildings housing various military training facilities founded by Louis XV in 1750 to create an academic college for cadet officers from poor families. Not only can you appreciate the historical significance of this site, which produced countless great military leaders, but the statuesque, sprawling architecture is quite impressive as well.

As you explore this site, keep in mind that Napolean Bonaparte walked the same hallways, as he was accepted in 1784 and completed the two-year program in one year. Add Paris Military School to your Paris travel itinerary, and discover new vacation ideas by using our Paris holiday planner.

  • Built by Louis XV with the support of his favorite the Pompadour, majestic ensemble of historical buildings is home for more than two centuries various army services, including organizations of training for senior officers. The school has been the issue of fighting in 1871 (Commune de Paris) and 1944 (Liberation of Paris), its façades keep traces of bullet holes. Rarely open to the public, except for the heritage days, yet it conceals hidden treasures: the chapel of St. Louis, the Castle, the courtyard...

  • We went walking and we find this wonder, to go with children it much attention them what is guns etc etc so went it great, the only downside is that they did not let children entered the bathroom since they had no input and the only possibility was in the bathrooms of the previous bar payment of 50 cents , I understand that adults pay but the children? They will almost mean over look the other bathroom and then look for us to give them money to do a pee.

  • The Hotel des Invalides was built under Louis XIV, Louis XV held to what is built a military school longer than wide and more grandiose, whose beautiful façade overlooks the Mars.C field ' is where the cadet Bonaparte was formed! After the turmoil of the Revolution, the return to the vocation of teaching of young officers were made late nineteenth century. The visit is particularly regulated... and proves very interesting and attractive!

  • One of my favorites in Paris. Impressive architecture. History, art, culture, and symbol...
  • We walked from the tower down the park to the Ecole Militaire. It is an amazing building and you should walk to the back of it to see the whole building. The back is more impressive than the front. Not a big miss if you don't see it, but once your at the Eiffell tower you might as well take the 15 minute walk.
  • The Ecole Militaire is one of the national landmarks. It is a beautiful building and just walking around it, taking photos, is a majestic experience.
  • A good one military school in Paris.
  • Massive building located just behind the Champs de Mars
