Parc Monceau, Paris

4.5
#9 of 49 in Parks in Paris
Painted by Monet numerous times, Parc Monceau is an elegant green space in the middle of cosmopolitan Paris. Check out the statues, entrance rotunda, and the surrounding mansions. Thanks to city planner Haussmann, this precious slice of parkland was reserved for the enjoyment and leisure of the people of Paris. The park's plan is unusual in France, due to its casual, English-style layout. This contrasts with other Parisian parks, such as the formal Luxembourg Gardens and Tuileries. Scaled-down architectural replicas are scattered through the park, including an Egyptian pyramid, a Dutch windmill, and a Chinese fort. Beautiful and elegant Park in the region surrounded by beautiful mansions, is a pleasant stroll and outside the big tourist movement, despite being relatively close to the Champs Elysées. I found this beautiful park that the famous Tuileries Gardens. I suggest to combine with a visit to the museum Jacquemart-Andre.

A nice calm part of town, and this is a lovely park to walk thru, with lots of lovely flowers. Good place to come and sit in the sun.  more »

No wonder this park has inspired painters such as Monet! It isn't that big, but it's usually very lively! Always a pleasure to walk there or pass by when running!

Parc Monceau is one of the most beautiful park in the heart of Paris. There is statues everywhere with a small bridge reminiscent of Venice, an Egyptian pyramid, the ‘Naumachie’ which is a pond surrounded by Corinthian columns inspired by the Ancient Rome, rock garden and many more. It is a great place to walk, jog, read, picnic or just sit on a bench. For kids there is an ancient merry-go-round. You will find a lot of artists busy with their paintings in this park.

Good place to run, to come and have a lunch or just to sit in a quiet place the middle of a big noisy city

I had a picnic with my friends there on a Sunday noon, it got packed real quick so I'd recommend to come in early otherwise you may have to fight for a small patch of grass. Also there is kid playground on one side of the park so if you don't have kids then stay clear of that part packed to the rafters with parents or whole family clans.

Lovely park to relax and take a breather in. Our kids loved the play ground and just chilling in the grass.

Where to stay in Paris

Each of the city’s 20 arrondissements, or districts, has a personality all its own. If you prefer high-end accommodations and to be in the middle of the action, look for lodging in the 1st through the 4th arrondissements. For more affordable lodging and access to major metro lines, try the 12th. The Oberkampf area of the 11th arrondissement has an edgier, more hip vibe. For easy access to tourist sites,  the 16th is within a stone’s throw of the Arc de Triomph and the Eiffel Tower, and the 17th is within walking distance to the Champs-Elysées. Avoid the 18th, 19th, and 20th, because these can be dangerous, especially if you’re not familiar with the city.
