Parc Monceau, Paris

4.4
#12 of 49 in Parks in Paris
Nature / Park
Painted by Monet numerous times, Parc Monceau is an elegant green space in the middle of cosmopolitan Paris. Check out the statues, entrance rotunda, and the surrounding mansions. Thanks to city planner Haussmann, this precious slice of parkland was reserved for the enjoyment and leisure of the people of Paris. The park's plan is unusual in France, due to its casual, English-style layout. This contrasts with other Parisian parks, such as the formal Luxembourg Gardens and Tuileries. Scaled-down architectural replicas are scattered through the park, including an Egyptian pyramid, a Dutch windmill, and a Chinese fort. Where to stay in Paris

Each of the city’s 20 arrondissements, or districts, has a personality all its own. If you prefer high-end accommodations and to be in the middle of the action, look for lodging in the 1st through the 4th arrondissements. For more affordable lodging and access to major metro lines, try the 12th. The Oberkampf area of the 11th arrondissement has an edgier, more hip vibe. For easy access to tourist sites,  the 16th is within a stone’s throw of the Arc de Triomph and the Eiffel Tower, and the 17th is within walking distance to the Champs-Elysées. Avoid the 18th, 19th, and 20th, because these can be dangerous, especially if you’re not familiar with the city.

  • Parc Monceau is one of the most beautiful park in the heart of Paris. There is statues everywhere with a small bridge reminiscent of Venice, an Egyptian pyramid, the ‘Naumachie’ which is a pond surrounded by Corinthian columns inspired by the Ancient Rome, rock garden and many more. It is a great place to walk, jog, read, picnic or just sit on a bench. For kids there is an ancient merry-go-round. You will find a lot of artists busy with their paintings in this park.
  • I had a picnic with my friends there on a Sunday noon, it got packed real quick so I'd recommend to come in early otherwise you may have to fight for a small patch of grass. Also there is kid playground on one side of the park so if you don't have kids then stay clear of that part packed to the rafters with parents or whole family clans.
  • Picturesque and tranquil garden, spent a couple of hours in here after a busy mornings shopping. Very easy to forget that you're in the hustle and bustle of Paris. Loved it
  • A really beautiful park that is a perfect place to sit and lay in the sun. Sit in the right spots and you wouldn't know you're inside a large city.
  • The most beautiful park in the heart of Paris, it is a great place to walk, jog, read, picnic or just sit on a bench and contemplate the beautiful architecture surrounding the Parc Monceau. It is a relaxing place for adults amid the lush trees and a fun break for kids, who will surely want a ride on the merry-go-round and a sugary snack.
