  • National Museum of the Legion of honour and knighthood — Museum of orders for services to the country, located in 7 arrondissement of Paris at the Palace of the Legion of honour near the Orsay Museum. It is open daily except Monday. Admission is free. The Museum is located in the Palais de Salm, built in 1782 by architect Pierre Rousseau year for Frederick III, Prince of Salm-Kirburgskogo burned in 1871, during the Paris Commune, and then restored on donations medalists. A small museum for lovers of orders and medals. Beside him installed in 2006 a statue of Thomas Jefferson in honor of French-American friendship

  • This small museum, almost confidential, is located next to the Musée d'Orsay, the most beautiful painting of Paris with the Louvre Museum. Just go down a few steps from the Plaza since the entry of Orsay to access. It is adjacent to the Palace of the Legion of honor (Palace of Salm) located Solferino Street and that it cannot be visited, except on heritage day. Open year-round, entry is free (we drop his identity card before the Open House). For history buffs, it's the wonder: in addition to all of the existing French decorations as well as many foreign decorations with their history, we can see weapons, costumes and historical paintings with every time a detailed explanation. Without forgetting the history of the education of the legion of honor houses, which 2 still exist in Saint-Denis (for seniors, classes prépa. seconds) and Saint-Germain en Laye (cycle 1), reserved for girls of decorated houses and practicing excellent teaching. Also many small films to illustrate the comments. The visit with audio guide is completely free and you can even open the drawers to admire close some decorations. A small hour: this is an hour of historic pleasure. Thanks to the sponsorship, including American, to have funded this museum outsized.

  • I'm not Fan of Decorations and everything that goes with... But I have to admit that this little Museum did had a nice time. It is very well done, with a very contemporary set design. A real surprise. The collection of the DECORATION of the world is very funny. You will discover the Swedish polar bear or the order of Krishna of Patalia (India) or more classic British Garter. It's fun, free perfect before or after Orsay.

  • This is best of best. It's hard to understand why people would give less than 5 stars. Besides, if you have engineering or architecture background, just come for this. A marvelous job of reconversion of an old ugly train station in such a beautiful building.
  • Very nice
  • always not enough time to see all here
  • How to ignore this Museum whose interest is matched only by his no media coverage? L "very magnitude of the collection has plenty to rekindle memories for history lovers, to amaze fans of"jewelry", (re) discover the weight of symbols to their origin. As already pointed out, include several visits seems to be minimal.
