  • The Museum was created at the initiative of general Dubail, Grand Chancellor of the Legion of honour, and financed through a subscription among the legionnaires and military medals, whose success was particularly strong in the United States. It was inaugurated in 1925. The core original collections, composed of the great Chancery, deposits of national museums Fund, were added, over time, many donations of collectors (collection Maurice Bucquet (1860-1921), the Tower of Auvergne Lauragais collection, collection Pierredon), but also the donations made by foreign States in order to complement existing collections (Federation of Russia, Poland...), finally prestigious purchases and recommendations (setting of Cambacérès decorations in 1982 (, collar of the royal order of the two Sicilies of Achille Murat in 2002). This collection is undoubtedly the most important in private hands. Apart from exposure to strictly speaking, there is the visit of the place as such and which is open under the heritage days and that worth the look! The term "ors of the Republic" takes its full meaning!
