Art Museum History Museum
Museum of Eroticism is a sex museum in Paris devoted to the erotic art collections of antique dealer Alain Plumey and French teacher Jo Khalifa. This collection shows you the ancient erotic art of India, Japan, and Africa, along with contemporary pieces. Explore all five floors, including a basement exhibit. One floor is devoted to the legal brothels of the 19th and early 20th century in France. The film "Polisson et Galipettes" is shown here, a collection of pornographic shorts formerly exhibited in these brothels. The upper two floors showcase revolving exhibits, mainly by contemporary artists. • The museum exposes works and huge historical and cultural burden about rituals or social conceptions of sex through epochs and civilizations. Illustrations and samples are very well understood from a historical sense with additional plates with information. I recommend it for who is interested in discovering the way in which mankind has perceived this activity during the centuries and according to their customs. It's really interesting to see him with critical depth, if one comes by curiosity, it loses the charm.

  • not great, dont waste your money. There are multiple floors all showing much of the same stuff, for what you pay to get in its really not worth it  more »
  • We were there in July 2013, the erotic Museum is located in the heart of Pigalle, a short walk from the Moulin Rouge, presents, on seven floors, the history of eroticism in the world and in different cultures by primitive peoples to the present day. Cute

  • Not really erotic, but more like exploring different facets of everything related to sexuality
  • This is a remarkable museum. Erotic? Certainly. Pornographic? Possibly in some areas, but presented tastefully. Spread over 7 floors, take the lift to the top and work your way down. Some of the sculpture work is exquisite and true works of art. A good 2 hours (or more) browsing on a wet day.
  • Fairly interesting, but I'm not sure how many of the items on display are actually authentic - their descriptions are left general and vague for a purpose I think.
  • not really a museum, more voyeur than anything else. it's interesting though. there isn't much explanation to the artifacts and paintings, other than that they visibly look Asian or African or modern... Just a bunch of stuff with labels, but still interesting to see as a whole. i didn't realize this when i was there, but this museum is actually in a sex shop area, close to the 'famous' Moulin Rouge. when i saw it i thought 'this must be the cheap copy of the moulin rouge', as it was just a small, red windmill. it's actually the real thing.
  • There are really a lot of things! Very cool :)

Where to stay in Paris

Each of the city’s 20 arrondissements, or districts, has a personality all its own. If you prefer high-end accommodations and to be in the middle of the action, look for lodging in the 1st through the 4th arrondissements. For more affordable lodging and access to major metro lines, try the 12th. The Oberkampf area of the 11th arrondissement has an edgier, more hip vibe. For easy access to tourist sites,  the 16th is within a stone’s throw of the Arc de Triomph and the Eiffel Tower, and the 17th is within walking distance to the Champs-Elysées. Avoid the 18th, 19th, and 20th, because these can be dangerous, especially if you’re not familiar with the city.
