Musee Rodin, Paris

4.6
#4 of 3,125 in Museums in France
Dedicated to the works of the French sculptor Auguste Rodin, Musee Rodin is home to the master sculptor's workshop and contains most of his significant creations including "The Thinker," "The Kiss," and "The Gates of Hell." You'll find many of the statues displayed in the lush gardens surrounding the villa. The art on display inside is very diverse, as Rodin was an art collector in addition to being an artist himself. The awesome collection includes 6,600 sculptures, 8,000 drawings, 8,000 old photographs, and 7,000 objets d’art. Paintings you can see from Rodin’s personal collection include works by Vincent van Gogh, Camille Claudel, and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. • There are better sights and sounds to see, feel hear than this. We regretted coming here. Same as any other European garden, much more filthy.  more »
  • The gardens are open. Only those. The entry subscription is a barrier for locals with bad intent to haggle tourists in this garden. We would like to see all areas open. We will be back for that.  more »
  • Home of beauty and grace. Movements in the stone. Kisses forever. Amazing gardens. Do not lose this museum among others in Paris. You will not regret!  more »

  • Was really impressed with this museum. It wasn't so large it was overwhelming like many other museums in Paris, this is incredibly manageable and enjoyable. A collection of ALL of Rodin's works across painting, sculpture, etc. The home and the gardens are great, there is a cafe on site as well. Highly recommend and allow yourself some time to sit in the garden.
  • My new favorite museum in town! Wasn't crowded, leaving plenty of space and time to fully appreciate the art on hand. So incredible to see the multiple iterations Rodin would often go through in his creative process, without feeling rushed by the crowd that one might expect to be filling the museum of such an icon.
  • A beautiful museum, where you can see both the famous sculptures of Rodin, and some of his drawings and sketches. Since i am a student, i got a free entrance, but the tickets are not that pricey for what the museum has to offer. I particularly liked the park around the museum's building, which has all of Rodin's most famous sculptures!
  • We came here on a Friday in the mid afternoon in winter. We we're lucky to have good weather and the crowd wasn't too bad. While the garden is the main attraction, don't miss i it on the display upstairs inside the main museum. The collection of works is amazing and will make you appreciate Rodin that much more
  • There have been extensive renovations done here. The mansion was formerly a hotel. I highly recommend that you allow at least two hours to visit or even longer. There is a metro stop very close and within walking distance to this museum. Rodin's sculptures are amazing. You will not be disappointed!
