  • The setting of the Hotel Sale is perfect to showcase the works of the master. Very nice show! worth in a district of Paris still very cozy to cross.

  • We went to the Picasso Museum the weekend last in family. The Museum staff made us wait 30 minutes in the rain. Several people in the queue went complaining, I quote, of being "treated like a chients". Once in the Museum: very nice mansion, but with the final bit of Picasso paintings. We have not learned much about the painter (too bad, we were with our two children of 13 years and 8 years). Avoid.

  • So much information about the Spanish artist under one spectacular roof. Great to see his work in real life. The building itself is a masterpiece. Staff are extremely informed and helpful. I'd definitely recommend the audio tour. There's one for children and adults. Children's tour 3pm Sundays.
  • This museum was excellent. When we were there, it was themed to highlight a specific year in Picasso's life - 1932 - and focused on his development as an artist during this period, and particularly as it concerned the erotic. The audio addition is a must, and was exhaustive. A highlight was seeing the preparatory paintings/sketches before the large, complete paintings. Picasso was a genius, and this museum serves him well.
  • It's a nice museum tucked away in Paris. Right now, the museum is configured to show 1 specific year in his life (1932). It's interesting to see his work change throughout the year. There were 4-5 paintings that I really enjoyed from that period. I would not recommend the audio tour... I would take a guided tour by a docent... they tell a much more complete story about that year in the Picasso's life.
  • Marvellous.. much better than The Louvre personally. Much more intimate and not as busy, a hidden gem. The audio guide is well worth the €5. Picasso - what a genius!
  • It used to be a big house now serving as this spacious, well-lit museum. Top floor was his own personal collection of art - very interesting as much as seeing his art develop over time! Lines can be long and rooms packed sometimes. Go early or late.

Where to stay in Paris

Each of the city’s 20 arrondissements, or districts, has a personality all its own. If you prefer high-end accommodations and to be in the middle of the action, look for lodging in the 1st through the 4th arrondissements. For more affordable lodging and access to major metro lines, try the 12th. The Oberkampf area of the 11th arrondissement has an edgier, more hip vibe. For easy access to tourist sites,  the 16th is within a stone’s throw of the Arc de Triomph and the Eiffel Tower, and the 17th is within walking distance to the Champs-Elysées. Avoid the 18th, 19th, and 20th, because these can be dangerous, especially if you’re not familiar with the city.
