I recently discovered the Museum Jean-Jacques Henner, who was long closed. I knew the painting of the artist but a lot less life. And I learned a lot, not only on him but on the neighborhood and the era. The course is very well organized, the place is large and bright and the friendly staff. There were very few visitors and it's a shame because this place is worth a visit. I highly recommend this particular workshop-hotel.

Maybe because very little frequented, was the only Museum in Paris who has granted me the free ticket showing the Italian teacher card, all other claimed you were French. Personally Henner wowed me, but understand the bad reviews: Gigi D'Alessio, Mozart lovers can legitimately suck; can appreciate who we most love at least Bocklin Henner known, maybe because he was in Florence, or because you loved him both Hitler and Stalin, proving that they weren't liking trivial.

Visiting obscure museums and found this gem near the Parc Monceau. Prolific 19th century salon winner, world renown in his day and very popular. His style changed somewhat over the years but his infat...  more »

The museum reopened after a long period of renovation. The paintings and sketches of Henner are exquisite. While the museum space is small and the number of works displayed is relatively limited, there is a special atmosphere about this museum that lets you travel in time as if you were living in the "atelier" of Henner and watching him creating these paintings. The museum has also a rich cultural agenda of events that complements these wonderful paintings.

It's a quick visit as the museum is small but it is interesting to see the inside of these old buildings.

I analyzed this Museum for my thesis. A House-Museum of a little-known artist of Alsatian origin. A little gem in Paris. Numerous events are held here, even fashion shows. Let us stop by if you're in the area!

Where to stay in Paris

Each of the city’s 20 arrondissements, or districts, has a personality all its own. If you prefer high-end accommodations and to be in the middle of the action, look for lodging in the 1st through the 4th arrondissements. For more affordable lodging and access to major metro lines, try the 12th. The Oberkampf area of the 11th arrondissement has an edgier, more hip vibe. For easy access to tourist sites,  the 16th is within a stone’s throw of the Arc de Triomph and the Eiffel Tower, and the 17th is within walking distance to the Champs-Elysées. Avoid the 18th, 19th, and 20th, because these can be dangerous, especially if you’re not familiar with the city.
