  • I had wanted to visit this museum ever since I had received a Christmas card with a reproduction of one of Moreau's paintings. It's tucked away in a little street not very far from the Boulevard Hauss...  more »
  • Not being a fan of the painter, his work was not what brought me here, but the chance to see the house. This was worth the visit, it is really interesting to see the living quarters, and they are appa...  more »
  • And several major museums in Paris, there are many minor museums, Museum of fine arts here is rather minor I think atmosphere is best. And offers 10-free on 1st Sunday visited the entrance closes and nearly closed the that and it came back, but at the entrance in Japan, "press" was put. Does not get too crowded even though it was a free day. It was decorated with wall paintings of very good museums.

  • So famous in his day and you an now see his house and upstairs studios. The subject to his paintings are often dark but fascinating.
  • There are so many paintings to look at and many translated explanatory notes are available including English and Japanese. I spent good two hours reading through and look at all the paintings.
  • If you like Moreau than this museum is a must. Also worth a look if you just like paintings but want something different than the big and crowded museums in the city.
  • A very interesting, inspiring museum devoted to a single artist. The house itself is of interest - the upper floors devoted to the studio space are well-lit and magnificent, but the lower floors are darker and art is not well-lit.
  • Reasonable entry, fantastic display upstairs of semi-finished works. So quiet on a Saturday too!

Where to stay in Paris

Each of the city’s 20 arrondissements, or districts, has a personality all its own. If you prefer high-end accommodations and to be in the middle of the action, look for lodging in the 1st through the 4th arrondissements. For more affordable lodging and access to major metro lines, try the 12th. The Oberkampf area of the 11th arrondissement has an edgier, more hip vibe. For easy access to tourist sites,  the 16th is within a stone’s throw of the Arc de Triomph and the Eiffel Tower, and the 17th is within walking distance to the Champs-Elysées. Avoid the 18th, 19th, and 20th, because these can be dangerous, especially if you’re not familiar with the city.
