  • Very enjoyable. Collection includes paintings that used to be in the Louvre. Nice nautical collection including a great set of paintings of ports around France. The boat models were interesting, and if you like war ships, there is a section of models, paintings and other military items.
  • It is a collection of miniatures of ships from all times and kinds. If it interests you, you will love it, but if ships are not your thing, you better use your time differently. The museum is quite expensive for its size and collection. Without hurry, you can see the whole museum in 1 1/2- 2 hours.
  • becareful!! marine museum is located at the same place of Musee de l'homme. The men who loves expedition should go and see how ancient europeans made the ships. this museum has lots of ancient scale ship models, especially during 18~19 centuries.
  • Nice collection of detailed ship models from many eras. Admission included in the Paris Museum Pass.
  • Spent a couple of hours here with an excellent audio guide - just press the number of the exhibit you're looking at. Would definitely go again. A wonderful collection of naval ship models, some of which were hung in cradles and used to teach new naval officers how they operated. Also a good collection of paintings by Joseph Vernet - large oils with of naval scenes, but with lots of detail in the groups of people and thier activities.

Where to stay in Paris

Each of the city’s 20 arrondissements, or districts, has a personality all its own. If you prefer high-end accommodations and to be in the middle of the action, look for lodging in the 1st through the 4th arrondissements. For more affordable lodging and access to major metro lines, try the 12th. The Oberkampf area of the 11th arrondissement has an edgier, more hip vibe. For easy access to tourist sites,  the 16th is within a stone’s throw of the Arc de Triomph and the Eiffel Tower, and the 17th is within walking distance to the Champs-Elysées. Avoid the 18th, 19th, and 20th, because these can be dangerous, especially if you’re not familiar with the city.
