Musee en Herbe, Paris

3.3
#70 of 142 in Museums in Paris
A little brother for the original Musée en Herbe in the Bois de Boulogne, this museum is also geared for children. They have games and hands-on exhibits so you won't have to supervise quite as closely as in other museums. Arts workshops are available as well, but you'll need to reserve a space in advance. Observation, imagination and identification games permit kids to discover the works of art and objects shown, at their own pace. The exhibits are all hands-on so kids can have a free reign in the museum, and if that's not enough there are workshops as well. • Super expo or must play a detective and find a stolen paint palette... My son loved! As well as the workshop where he was able to achieve the 3 small "masterpieces" that he was able to take home, too well...! However a crazy world (of the queue at the checkout time) and a small enough space, in reality, it's bad...

  • It's more an exhibition space that a museum with regularly changing theme. Are just four rooms. I would recommend it with little ones (they speak French though) and only with an atelier, very interesting. Staff present, active and competent.

  • For 6 years, we go there regularly with my son (now aged 9-17). Take the guided tour with workshop then: they love! The Museum is small but with the tour, children learn many things and the host knows how to keep their attention. Workshop: facilitator very patient listening. The current exhibition "Workshops A LA LOUPE" is very well done, lets teach children the different currents of painting. Only a few products in the shop and a big catalogue for €15: too bad. INVADERS, there is a very well done games/catalog and stickers was top. And for the exhibition of the cat, mugs with the cat much appreciated. Children like a souvenir. According to themes, exhibitions may be suitable for Teens: my eldest son has enjoyed the exhibitions "The cat" and "INVADERS". By contrast staff not top. In January, during my last visit, a Sunday, I had taken on the site of the Museum a place for my 17 year old son who could not come and the home refused to reimburse me because it was a ticket of the site. However it was the site of the Museum! Asked me to call the Manager the next day. Very disappointed. A review process. And also the possibility on the site to get tickets guided tour + workshop for child only. Indeed, when one adult comes with several children for guided tour + workshop, you can buy a ticket on the site "accompanying + 1 child", but must book through the mail for additional children and pay on arrival. Visit recommended in case of strong heat: small museum and the backroom under canopy. Last regret: the workshops are in the basement. A little sad especially when we saw the space workshop of the previous location of the Museum who was very bright as a true workshop!

  • We love this museum. Went last year for the Geluck exhibit and this year they had an exhibit on Invaders, french artist hiding mosaics throughout cities around the world. Made for a fun after-visit treasure hunt through the streets of Paris.
  • Great place to get some culture for the whole family including high quality workshops. Currently exposing British painter Damian Elwes
  • It's a very nice place to go with small kid. It's a one of a kind in Paris, where museums usually don't have activities for kids before they're 5 or 6 years old.
  • Total waste of time and money Just don’t get how this place qualifies as a museum instead of a sauna. There’s some sort of interactive quiz that can be done in 20 minutes. At the end of our visit I was gasping for air and felt suffocated as the temperature inside is 35 degrees Celsius with no window or air conditioning. They don’t have a cloakroom. Just don’t go
  • Greatly enjoyed the exposition on the artist "invader" but I found the place too "childish" and didn't take very long go to visit. Count 15 mins minimum
