Musée du Parfum Fragonard, Paris

Categories: Specialty Museums, Museums
For a change from the usual art museums, try visiting Musée du Parfum Fragonard, a fascinating and luxurious museum of perfume. The museum was created in 1983 by the Fragonard perfume company within a Napoleon III town-house. As you tour the site, check out the period furnishings and perfume exhibits, including antique perfume bottles, containers, toiletry sets, stills for steam distillation of perfume extracts, and more. Displays show you how perfumes are made today as well as the history of perfume manufacturing and packaging.

Of particular interest is an orgue à parfum, or a perfume organ, with tiers of ingredient bottles arranged around a balance used to mix fragrances. You won’t leave Musée du Parfum Fragonard without discovering the secrets behind their most famous scents! • The tour was quite interesting. They explain the process of making perfumes and show various exhibits with quite fascinating perfume bottles. There is also a room with fascinating collection of perfume labels. The tour ends upstairs in the shop, where they present the five kinds of perfumes Fragonard makes. I guess most of the disappointed people visited this place when there were immense crowds in attendance. Ours was a quiet, relaxing visit.
  • Buy your perfumes here. They give discounts and freebies for bulk purchase. A Cebuana works here.
  • Very small place, they got more space for their shop. The best thing about the place, everything smells good.
  • This small museum gives you a look how perfume is made. The entrance is free. After the tour you can buy perfume from Fragonard, sometimes they have great discounts.
