A fervent defender of the Franco-Yugoslav friendship, he was murdered while on the Canebière. On 13 October 1934, the Paris Council decided to erect a monument in honour of the King and friendship with France. This bronze monument, located in the square of Colombia in the 16th arrondissement, is very imposing and comprises several elements. The King in uniform is mounted on his horse, which a French General holds by the bridle, as a symbol of France's role in supporting Yugoslavia. The King is depicted on a flag background. Five other characters surround the King on horseback. One can see on the right, a woman holding her child in arms, which symbolizes the Yugoslav nation. On the back to the left, and closing the "walk", there is a man in traditional Serbian costume. On the pedestal, many inscriptions relate the facts of the King, and his biography, as well as the Franco-Yugoslav friendship. It was the sculptor Maxime real del Sarte (1888-1954), who won the competition and the realization of the monument was entrusted to the Foundry Durenne. Its realization has contributed many workers and hours of work, so that the elements are assembled on the spot. It is inaugurated in 1936 Maxime real del Sarte, is the founder of the King's Camelots in 1908, the right organization of "l'action française". She is anti Republican, so royalist, anti Semitic and undemocratic!! Artistically, he realizes many monuments to the dead of the war 1914-1918 in France. He received the Grand Prix of fine arts in 1921.
Créé en 1936 par le sculpteur Réal del Sarte, ce monument est situé Porte de la Muette, à proximité du boulevard périphérique, à côté de la place de Colombie, dans le square Alexandre 1er de Yougoslav... more »Created in 1936 by sculptor Real del Sarte, this monument is located door of the mute, near the ring road, near the square of Colombia, in the square 1 Alexander of Yugoslavia. It represents an equestrian bronze statue: the King Alexandre 1 on his horse and beside him the Marshal Franchet of Generale, his father the King Pierre Ier of Serbia, the Commander armies Serbs and Serb peasants. A large monument. In front, on the place of Colombia, guests also have the opportunity to admire the statue of Francisco Paula Santander, realization of the same sculptor.
A monument laden with history in remembrance of King Alexander 1st of Yugoslavia and his father King Peter the 1st, King of Serbia from 1903 to 1919 (there is an avenue Pierre 1 of Serbia in the 16th and 8th arrondissement of Paris), then from 1919 King of the Serbs , Slovenians and Croats, he was active alongside us in the Foreign Legion during the Franco-Prussian war in autumn 1870 under the name of Pierre Kara (history is inscribed on the monument). This monument was inaugurated in 1936 in memory of King Alexander 1 of Yugoslavia murdered on 9 October 1934 in Marseille on Rue de la Canebière in the presence of the Foreign Minister Louis Barthou (see Avenue Louis Barthou not far from here), himself is death on the same day of a stray bullet not caused by the assassin of King Alexander the 1st of Yugoslavia (there were other victims among the public who came to see the King that day, they were caused by shots that were not caused by the murderer). This has had catastrophic repercussions in the Government and the police headquarters in Marseille, such as an earthquake! The death of King Alexander the 1st of Yugoslavia and Louis Barthou had serious consequences thereafter. I strongly advise you to take a look at the Avenue du Maréchal Franchet D'esperey which is not very far from here, it is quite poorly known in France, it was during the first world war very active in the Balkans alongside the Serbs against the Empire Austro-Hungarian in the army of the Orient. He was awarded the rank of Vojvode of the Yugoslav Army (pronounced "Voidé", which means "Duke", and which is the equivalent of the rank of Marshal in France). [A small precision, when you watched the monument face, to the left of the horse in the foreground you can see King Peter the 1st, on the horse his son King Alexander 1st of Yugoslavia and to the right of the horse is in the foreground Marshal Franchet of Esper EY]. There are 4 photos taken on the Internet via Google and Google maps for the routes here: you can see the model of the monument in question, the call for donations for the construction of the 2 monuments in Paris and in Marseille signed by Marshal Franchet of Esperey, the commemorative plaque of the place of the assassination in Marseille in front of the trade exchange on the rue de la Canebière and the monument erected in Marseille street of Rome just outside the Prefecture of Marseille where King Alexander the 1st of Yugoslavia has expired.
