  • Rather by chance we have landed on this cemetery. Reflected expecting, it was quite nice. The tombs and grave houses are very old and impressive. The grave of the German poet Heinrich Heine is also near entrance to find. You can look right here at this. The place is really nice, to escape the wild hustle and bustle of the big city.

  • I love cemeteries, everywhere I go, I visit at least one. This was a true gem! Quiet, lovely walk looking at some beautiful artworks that you can actually get close to and touch :). There are some fam...  more »
  • Very welcome and easy to head to the graves. Toilet at your disposal. Ditto for the flowers and watering.

  • It's nice for a short walk-through, but gets monotone after awhile. You feel a melancholic atmosphere walking next to the graves of people that have shaped history. Worth a short visit when you are in the area, entrance is free.
  • Beautiful cemetery, home to very well known figures. Many stray cats can also be seen roaming around.
  • MARIE TAGLIONI is NOT buried at their cemetery. It's her mother's grave aka Sophia Karsten which is here . Please stop advising she is buried here . Marie is buried at # 94 Rue pacthod of Perè La Chaise under the name - Comtesse Gilbert de Voisins .. her fame name .
  • Very nice place, very good views 👍👍👍
  • At this cemetery you will find lots of stray cats, some even let you pet them, did not see this at any other cemeteries. The graves itself are also very attractive.

Where to stay in Paris

Each of the city’s 20 arrondissements, or districts, has a personality all its own. If you prefer high-end accommodations and to be in the middle of the action, look for lodging in the 1st through the 4th arrondissements. For more affordable lodging and access to major metro lines, try the 12th. The Oberkampf area of the 11th arrondissement has an edgier, more hip vibe. For easy access to tourist sites,  the 16th is within a stone’s throw of the Arc de Triomph and the Eiffel Tower, and the 17th is within walking distance to the Champs-Elysées. Avoid the 18th, 19th, and 20th, because these can be dangerous, especially if you’re not familiar with the city.
