Marche Raspail, Paris

4.6
#36 of 308 in Shopping in Paris
Created in 1920, Marche Raspail is one of the trendiest and most legitimate organic markets in the city. Take tote bag or basket and experience some of the freshest produce around. You can find fresh, great-tasting fruits and vegetables just delivered from local gardens that morning. You can even buy products from around the world!

In addition, it’s not unusual to spot celebrities as they do their shopping, too. About forty vendors comprise the market and offer the finest in fresh, healthy produce. Marche Raspail is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our international travel planner, Paris Edition.

  • Because it was the last day of Paris visited prior to departure. At a variety of sites and from 9 am, which was open 8:00 at about half past 7, 8 percent were. It is a fun Marche residents to walk, just to see. Shop baked Galette I of the Galette was wonderful!

  • Everything you would expect from a classic French market installed in the middle of a boulevard in the heart of the 6th arrondisement.  more »
  • This bio dedicated to the products market is full of fruits and vegetables, meat, eggs, prepared meals, etc. Bio. That said, a lot of vegetables and fruit come from European destinations as in other non exclusively organic markets (outside of course of the exotic vegetables or fruits). Expected to see more vegetables from neighbouring regions of the island of France (sustainability and authenticity). Looking good I found potatoes of terroir delicious to the taste of hazelnut, well tasty endives and farm eggs. Good advice do not buy at the first stall comes, go around looking good labels, provenances, freshness and authenticity of the products.

  • I would highly recommend to visit this market on Sunday morning. Great selection of cheese, meats and baked goods. Everything we bought was absolutely delicious with an amazing price tag. We also got some cheese and duck pate to take back home to New York. For locals this market can be pricy with little selection, but for us it was a great experience as we have nothing like that in NY.
  • Absolutely wonderful... if in Paris on a Sunday, certainly worth a walk and to take it all in!
  • Nice Parisian market. 30 minutes us just enough.
  • Beautiful cheeses, produce, and the most delicious galettes! Can't wait to visit again next weekend.
  • Very interesting place with nice people and very good and safe products

Where to stay in Paris

Each of the city’s 20 arrondissements, or districts, has a personality all its own. If you prefer high-end accommodations and to be in the middle of the action, look for lodging in the 1st through the 4th arrondissements. For more affordable lodging and access to major metro lines, try the 12th. The Oberkampf area of the 11th arrondissement has an edgier, more hip vibe. For easy access to tourist sites,  the 16th is within a stone’s throw of the Arc de Triomph and the Eiffel Tower, and the 17th is within walking distance to the Champs-Elysées. Avoid the 18th, 19th, and 20th, because these can be dangerous, especially if you’re not familiar with the city.
