Lutetia, Paris

(50+ reviews on the web)
Ruin Historic Site
Considered a significant historical location, Lutetia was a town in pre-Roman and Roman Gaul and the ancestor of present-day Paris. Very little is now left of the ancient city, although more is currently being discovered. In a small park on high ground in the Latin Quarter of the Left Bank, tucked behind apartment blocks, you can still see some remains of the 1st century amphitheater, or Arènes de Lutèce. You can also find remains of public baths at the Musée de Cluny and the Early Christian archeological crypt under the Notre Dame forecourt, now Place of Pope John-Paul II.

Explore a little more to find a road dating back 2,000 years, discovered at the site during expansion of the campus on University of Pierre and Marie Curie. During the excavation here, remains of private houses containing Roman baths and heated floors were found. • Recommend! Every time I come to Paris, I come to this place to eat Tartar steak. Amazing taste and location is perfect!
  • Worst coffee ever. Tasted like dish water strained through twice-used cheap grounds. I ALWAYS finish my coffee, but not this time. 6 euros 10. What looked like a day-old croissant was also placed on my table in case I felt like paying for that too--glad I didn't. Will not be returning.
  • Good place. Great location. Fairly good food too. Friendly staff.
  • Not bad food, but I wasn't informed when I asked for water with "no gas" aka not sparkling that I would be given a 750mL bottle of Evian and charged 6€80 for it. Bad service and I won't be going here again
  • Nice place to relax and have a coffee
