Le Pont de Bir-Hakeim, Paris

4.5
#293 of 1,572 in Things to do in Paris
Formerly the pont de Passy, Le Pont de Bir-Hakeim is a steel bridge that crosses the Seine River in Paris and is the second bridge to have stood at this site. You can enjoy this site using two levels--one for motor vehicles and one for pedestrians.

If you’re looking for some history, look for the central arch of the viaduct. The arch is decorated with four monumental stone statues, including figures of Science and Labor by Jules-Felix Coutan, and Electricity and Commerce by Jean Antoine Injalbert. Attend at night to enjoy the line of glowing street lights on Le Pont de Bir-Hakeim. Also keep in mind that many movies have featured this bridge, such as Last Tango in Paris and Inception. Ten minutes away from the Eiffel Tower, to the Eiffel Tower before coming here, to discover only after the second layer is the subway tracks, the following layer is the sidewalks and bike lanes. This seat bridge is famous, also really have thanks to stolen dream space, stone and steel business structure of mixed let people feel is has Paris of features, although from distance seems bridge is not is long, but in bridge Shang from end see to another end Shi, has very strong of endless like, and line straight of perspective sense, this also only understand why Christopher Nolan will select this seat bridge, as dreams design of "beginning".

If you are a movie buff this bridge is essential. Here is a scene from the movie Inception by Christopher Nolan, one of his best works. The bridge of truth that impresses and more after having been charmed by the film. Essential.

Where to stay in Paris

Each of the city’s 20 arrondissements, or districts, has a personality all its own. If you prefer high-end accommodations and to be in the middle of the action, look for lodging in the 1st through the 4th arrondissements. For more affordable lodging and access to major metro lines, try the 12th. The Oberkampf area of the 11th arrondissement has an edgier, more hip vibe. For easy access to tourist sites,  the 16th is within a stone’s throw of the Arc de Triomph and the Eiffel Tower, and the 17th is within walking distance to the Champs-Elysées. Avoid the 18th, 19th, and 20th, because these can be dangerous, especially if you’re not familiar with the city.
