Le Pont de Bir-Hakeim, Paris

4.5
#317 of 2,044 in Things to do in Paris
Formerly the pont de Passy, Le Pont de Bir-Hakeim is a steel bridge that crosses the Seine River in Paris and is the second bridge to have stood at this site. You can enjoy this site using two levels--one for motor vehicles and one for pedestrians.

If you’re looking for some history, look for the central arch of the viaduct. The arch is decorated with four monumental stone statues, including figures of Science and Labor by Jules-Felix Coutan, and Electricity and Commerce by Jean Antoine Injalbert. Attend at night to enjoy the line of glowing street lights on Le Pont de Bir-Hakeim. Also keep in mind that many movies have featured this bridge, such as Last Tango in Paris and Inception. • This is a two level Bridge on the seine river located near the eiffel Tower. The best part of the bridge is that the cars run on the bridge level 1 and metro line runs on top.  more »

  • The Pont de Bir-Hakeim is one of the many bridges over the River Seine, and going between the 15th and 16th Arrondissements by the Ile aux Cygnes island, it is a two tier bridge that is now on the register of historical monuments in Paris. And even more recently the Pont de Bir-Hakeim bridge has been placed on the supplementary list of historical monuments in Paris, so as to preserve this piece of history for many years to come. And something that is really cool and its standing just a stone’s throw from the Eiffel is this, the ‘Inception Bridge”. Saint Joan of Arc sculpture is also on one of the bridges Islands
  • Wonderful view of Eiffel Tower. Great spot for getting photos clicked away from the crowd.
  • A nice and quiet place to walk, very good view of the Eiffel tower and very safe even during late hours
  • Has one of the best view of Eiffel. :)
  • Water is so clear down the bridge.we can see the view of Eiffel tower from here.

Where to stay in Paris

Each of the city’s 20 arrondissements, or districts, has a personality all its own. If you prefer high-end accommodations and to be in the middle of the action, look for lodging in the 1st through the 4th arrondissements. For more affordable lodging and access to major metro lines, try the 12th. The Oberkampf area of the 11th arrondissement has an edgier, more hip vibe. For easy access to tourist sites,  the 16th is within a stone’s throw of the Arc de Triomph and the Eiffel Tower, and the 17th is within walking distance to the Champs-Elysées. Avoid the 18th, 19th, and 20th, because these can be dangerous, especially if you’re not familiar with the city.
