  • A man coming out of a wall, it is indeed a curious art piece and the object of many photographers. In the middle of one of Paris' most charming neighborhoods, perfect for a walking tour.  more »
  • Nice detour after the visit of the place du tertre. It of fun and very well done. I would recommend this little detour.

  • When I first was in Paris (not yet had this wonderful resource:-)), had little time and information, and this monument is not found. This time even tasks that were not. A walk from the Sacré-Coeur Basilica in the direction of Villa Léandre, accidentally stumbled. I love these not quite normal monuments. This seven-foot tall bronze sculpture depicts the protiskivajushhegosja through a stone wall. She is educated man by the name of Djutijel, the main character of the story by Marcel Aymé "People passing through the wall" (1943). And above and to the right of even seen someone's buttocks and breasts)

  • Very nice building and amazing view, but beware of the environment. Scammers everywhere. Do not let anyone grab your arm, wrist or finger or they will tie a bracelet on you and demand money. Never play the cup and ball game, they use slight of hand to make sure you always lose, anyone winning is in on the scam. Avoid the nearby red light district unless you actually plan to do something there, it is very shady.
  • Read the book, then walk by this place!
  • This sculpture is a tribute to a short story by Marcel Ayme, after whom the plaza is named. In fact his face is on the larger-than-life sculpture, by his friend Jean Marais. A civil servant in Montmartre has the incredible ability to traverse walls due to a magical pill, but in the end gets stuck after he takes the antidote by mistake. Go ahead, grab his hand and try to help him out.
  • Nice statue ; you should go there with a Parisian to explain its meaning 😉
  • A cool little art piece in Montmartre

Where to stay in Paris

Each of the city’s 20 arrondissements, or districts, has a personality all its own. If you prefer high-end accommodations and to be in the middle of the action, look for lodging in the 1st through the 4th arrondissements. For more affordable lodging and access to major metro lines, try the 12th. The Oberkampf area of the 11th arrondissement has an edgier, more hip vibe. For easy access to tourist sites,  the 16th is within a stone’s throw of the Arc de Triomph and the Eiffel Tower, and the 17th is within walking distance to the Champs-Elysées. Avoid the 18th, 19th, and 20th, because these can be dangerous, especially if you’re not familiar with the city.
