Le Palais Royal, Paris

4.5
#13 of 49 in Parks in Paris
Nestled between peaceful, nostalgic gardens, Le Palais Royal features magnificent 17th-century architecture and is the home to contemporary sculptures by Bury and Buren. Because the palace houses the Constitutional Council and the Ministry of Culture, the building is not open to the public. However, you can tour the gardens for free. You'll notice four rows of lime trees planted during the 1970s, chestnut trees dating back to 1910, and more than 450 trees providing shade for two vast green areas. Elegant marble statues include "Le Charmeur de Serpent" carved by Adolphe Thabard in 1875, "Le Pâtre et la Chèvre" by Paul Lemoyne in 1830, and more. Several buildings surrounding the garden have restaurants, shops, and galleries. Our Paris travel itinerary maker makes visiting Le Palais Royal and other Paris attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

It's sometimes hard to find, garden which is its charm and lets him keep a certain authenticity and a calm that must be in the same place. The seasons the parent variety of flowers and constantly renewed by knowledgeable gardeners. In spring do not miss flowering of magnolias that is admired by all!

Outside there is not much to see but the interior is worthwhile. A little crazy the patio with striped columns, sources with the stainless steel spheres and the classic and fantastic garden with the old galleries to the sides. It is very pleasant to sit awhile around the fountain

Where to stay in Paris

Each of the city’s 20 arrondissements, or districts, has a personality all its own. If you prefer high-end accommodations and to be in the middle of the action, look for lodging in the 1st through the 4th arrondissements. For more affordable lodging and access to major metro lines, try the 12th. The Oberkampf area of the 11th arrondissement has an edgier, more hip vibe. For easy access to tourist sites,  the 16th is within a stone’s throw of the Arc de Triomph and the Eiffel Tower, and the 17th is within walking distance to the Champs-Elysées. Avoid the 18th, 19th, and 20th, because these can be dangerous, especially if you’re not familiar with the city.
