Hotel de Ville, Paris
(4.3/5 based on 1,000+ reviews on the web)
Hotel de Ville houses Paris's city government, and is one of the loveliest buildings in town. For a good view from outside, go to the top floor of the Bazar de l'Hôtel de Ville (BHV) department store opposite, and walk up a flight of stairs to the roof terrace. The present structure replaced the 16th-century original, which burned down in 1871. An enlarged pastiche of its predecessor, the new building was built by the architects Ballu and Deperthes and was mostly completed by 1882. The building is lavishly decorated both inside and out, and finished in an arresting white stone, similar to that used for the Sacre-Coeur basilica. When Paris was liberated from the Germans in 1944, General de Gaulle greeted the crowds from a front window of the building. Robespierre was shot in the jaw and arrested in the original building in 1794. • Very few people know, including Parisians, but the Paris City Hall can be visited all year round and it's free. Indeed one of the most beautiful Palace of the Republic can be visited from the ground floor to the top floor. Especially all the 2nd floor where the reception rooms that are sumptuous. Having completely burned during the events of the Commune in 1871 it was rebuilt almost in the same way. One of the most lavish shows, the great Hall, is a replica of the Hall of mirrors of the Palace of Versailles. A few details. In fact the Republic is in front of to be at the top of the kingship is shorter but was built high... for the same reasons the columns and stucco are golden to gold end while at Versailles is gold paint... It also said that the office of the Mayor of Paris is the largest of the French Republic, even the office of the President and the Prime Minister are smaller, with these some 150 m 2, there are square!

  • If you have the opportunity during the heritage days, visiting the City Hall of Paris. It is certainly one of the most beautiful Palace in the capital, which looks a lot like the Palace of Versailles on the inside. The village hall is absolutely beautiful, and what of the library. It's beautiful inside, it is not less beautiful outside. Architecture stands out clearly and evaluated on this huge place which receives numerous events throughout the year. Including a large rink for the year-end holidays.

  • The Hôtel de Ville, isn’t really a hotel. It’s the city hall of Paris. This very spot in Paris is historical. Its doors has seen both revolution, oppression and liberation. The facade of the building was adorned with many names of people who have made their mark in history. It's actually a place with a vibe of activity and a place to just watch people come out and play. Today, there’s a bubble blower out making large joyful bubbles in the air. Sometimes there might be an exhibition happening right outside and during Christmas, there's a carousel that kids can ride for free
  • Probably one of the most beautiful baby in buildings in Paris. Can't recall any city hall that looks so amazing and detailed.
  • Not your average city hall 😍 This place is magical. You can visit and just look at the building all day :)
  • We saw it by night. It was magnificent!
  • Nice City Hall building. Not a hotel!!!
