Casino Horse Track
For a unique experience, stop by Hippodrome d'Auteuil, a horse racing venue offering endless thrills and excitement whether you are a racing fanatic or not. Opened in 1873, this course was designed exclusively for steeplechase racing. Since then, it has been modernized a number of times. In 1971, access was improved when two pedestrian tunnels were built under the tracks that lead to the Porte d'Auteuil and the Porte de Passy. It also hosted the equestrian events for the 1924 Summer Olympics.

You can cheer as the horses tear around the track as well as enjoy quality refreshments like coffee and other drinks. There’s even a betting room available, where half the fun is just in watching people shout and gamble with passion. It couldn't be easier to arrange your visit to Hippodrome d'Auteuil and many more Paris attractions: make an itinerary online using Inspirock's Paris trip itinerary planner.

  • Great day, great sports show! Always a pleasure to go to the races in this corner of greenery Parisian. I like the staid atmosphere in some places and other popular, amazing but nice contrast. The only downside on the inside of the stands a little run down.

  • Nice races in fine location with view on the Eiffel tower
  • Amazing! Good view...
  • Auteuil is arguably the world's most sophisticated racecourse. No racecourse in the world is as close to the center of a major city as it is. Moreover, it is just a short walk to Porte d'Auteuil, a public square on the western edge of Paris that closely resembles the center of the city. The British and Irish may beg to differ, but Auteuil is home to the best jump racing in the world.

Where to stay in Paris

Each of the city’s 20 arrondissements, or districts, has a personality all its own. If you prefer high-end accommodations and to be in the middle of the action, look for lodging in the 1st through the 4th arrondissements. For more affordable lodging and access to major metro lines, try the 12th. The Oberkampf area of the 11th arrondissement has an edgier, more hip vibe. For easy access to tourist sites,  the 16th is within a stone’s throw of the Arc de Triomph and the Eiffel Tower, and the 17th is within walking distance to the Champs-Elysées. Avoid the 18th, 19th, and 20th, because these can be dangerous, especially if you’re not familiar with the city.
