Gare du Nord, Paris

#62 of 294 in Sightseeing in Paris
Architectural Building Tourist Spot
One of the six large terminus railway stations of the mainline network for Paris, Gare du Nord is well known for its architectural beauty. A sculptural display represents the principal cities served by the station. Eight of the nine majestic statues crowning the building along the cornice line illustrate destinations outside France, with the ninth figure of Paris in the center. The station has served as a setting in numerous films, such as "The Bourne Ultimatum" and "Ocean’s Twelve," and is mentioned in books such as "The Da Vinci Code" and "The Historian." Through this station, you can connect with several urban transportation lines, including Paris Métro, RER, and buses. With around 190 million travelers per year, this is the busiest railway station in Europe. Put Gare du Nord at the forefront of your travel plans using our Paris trip itinerary builder.

  • Friendly service, good English. Decent prices for Paris. Convenient to train station.
  • This place holds great memories for me. I came here almost every night during my time in Paris. I met so many people and the staff soon came to recognize me and were always so pleasant. I always got La Soupe de Poisson and it was always lovely. I miss this place and it will always be a big portion of my memories of Paris.
  • I love it dinner and eau bien perfect. I am see confused? Clear I am like it things and amour jose hug moi
  • Delicious omelet, slow service
  • Expensive and not very good. Near the station but not much else to offer, I wouldn't recommend

Where to stay in Paris

Each of the city’s 20 arrondissements, or districts, has a personality all its own. If you prefer high-end accommodations and to be in the middle of the action, look for lodging in the 1st through the 4th arrondissements. For more affordable lodging and access to major metro lines, try the 12th. The Oberkampf area of the 11th arrondissement has an edgier, more hip vibe. For easy access to tourist sites,  the 16th is within a stone’s throw of the Arc de Triomph and the Eiffel Tower, and the 17th is within walking distance to the Champs-Elysées. Avoid the 18th, 19th, and 20th, because these can be dangerous, especially if you’re not familiar with the city.
