The Galerie de Minéralogie et de Géologie is a part of the Muséum national d'histoire naturelle in Paris. It is found in the Jardin des Plantes. The gallery displays a collection of crystals gemstones and minerals “parmi les plus anciennes et les plus prestigieuses du monde”.

The collection began in 1625, when minerals with medicinal properties were deposited in \"le droguier du jardin royal des plantes médicinales\"\". Thereafter, the collection was enriched on the orders of Louis XIV and it has been on public display since 1745. There are approximately 600 000 specimens.

  • If you've been to Paris before, and have seen all the must-sees, or if you are not interested in arts, or want to avoid long queues, I recommend a visit to the jardin des plantes for this and another ...  more »
  • The name of the exhibition 'Treasures of the Earth' is exactly representative of what we'll find. Beautiful minerals, each being highlighted by lights and windows. Small explanatory films allow us to learn more about the training of these minerals and their characteristics.

  • Very nice gallery since it has been redone. Carefully read the directions and watch the videos (well done) If you want to navigate the history of minerals.

  • We had a magical time, with my 4 year old daughter who discovered that the Earth was not as Brown. Go for the large and small take full eyes! It's MAGIC!
