Where to stay in Paris

Each of the city’s 20 arrondissements, or districts, has a personality all its own. If you prefer high-end accommodations and to be in the middle of the action, look for lodging in the 1st through the 4th arrondissements. For more affordable lodging and access to major metro lines, try the 12th. The Oberkampf area of the 11th arrondissement has an edgier, more hip vibe. For easy access to tourist sites,  the 16th is within a stone’s throw of the Arc de Triomph and the Eiffel Tower, and the 17th is within walking distance to the Champs-Elysées. Avoid the 18th, 19th, and 20th, because these can be dangerous, especially if you’re not familiar with the city.

  • We stopped in to buy dried cepes and were pleased that we could buy them in quantity at a good price. I wish I had had more time to browse.  more »
  • The secret is out. Gourmet chocolate sold here have better prices, presently. The store is small, and fully packed! Employees speak excellent English too. Recommended by David Lebovitz.  more »

  • This is a great place to buy specialty food ingredients like pectin, glucose, chocolate, nuts...as well as regional products like canned fish...and seasonal products. It's where professional chocolatiers go when they realize they've forgotten to order something from a regular supplier. (Prices are retail.) Staff is knowledgeable and friendly.
  • Good prices and an impressive selection of baking supplies.
  • Very small sypermarket but everything is delicious. Whether you're out for dried fruit, spices or chocolate they have the best quality here. Great place to shop Valrona chocolate.
  • Best place to buy basic cooking ingredients, baking oriented buy you can find anything here
  • Great food specialty shop. Wide selection, good prices. Very organized. Make your selection, obtain your total cost and bagged, pay the cashier.
