  • Beautiful Fountain at the entrance of the Sorbonne, next to the Metro Jussie, received a small intervention, with spray paint, today very common in Paris. In This place on Sunday a good antiques fair is happening that I really enjoyed.

  • Located in place Jussieu, opposite the Université Pierre et Marie Curie, this fountain is composed of a basin and a granite disk placed on the vertical and on top of which appears an orifice. The water flows from the pond on this disc. It is called the fountain of Jussieu and also "the mouth of truth", originally from ancient Rome... Created in 1994, it is the work of the Parisian sculptor guy Lartigue, known for his sculptures-fountains and water modelings. Nothing really extraordinary. You can also come by bus, line 67, stop "Jussieu", right in front.

  • This fountain, by Jean Lartigue, called "the mouth of truth" is located on the Jussieu square facing the entrance of the Université Pierre et Marie Curie or Paris V. It is built in 1994, and incorporates the theme of "the mouth of truth", which dates back to ancient Rome, from the 1st century AD. In fact, when you put your hand in the gaping opening, the rule is that you can only remove it if you do not conceal a lie! Originally, it is a bronze plaque, a strange character, a hairy and bearded man, who was in Roman mythology called "La Bocca della Vérita". These different "mouths" of Rome, on the water network, expressed the mysterious report, which man maintains with his conscience through the invisible. Here, Jean Lartigue shows us a contemporary version of the mask. It is a granite wheel, hole in its Center, planted on the slice, with a small jet of vertical water, in the middle of a basin of round shape in masonry and facings. Normally, the water jet should pass through the hole, but the pressure is inadequate, nothing happens!! The surrounding of the fountain, is made of some plantations, which give to this mass of concrete without decoration, a little less "rude" air! Here, we are dealing with a stripped, smooth, uncharming style, but quite in the style of the 1990 years. This fountain, which remains poorly maintained, testifies to what could be called "the great misery of the Parisian fountains"!!! It is accessible by metro station "Jussieu", lines n ° 7 and 10

  • Go there really early. Best to be there when it opens so you won't have to wait 30 min or more just to take a picture with the Bocca. À popular photo pose is to stick your hand into its holes. Legends say liars will loose their hand by doing so.
  • We went right after it opened at 9 a.m. Our kids LOVED IT! Definitely worth our 5 minutes in line for some hilarious family pictures and something fun to talk about.
  • Short queue times and friendly guy making sure people dont cut the line. Its a novelty place, only need 2 minutes for a quick photo. Good for a quick laugh
  • Beautiful sculpture to take a photo with (for free/with a donation). Cool meaning of the sculpture. The line is unfortunately sometimes even in rain really long...Around 250m from Circus Maximus and close to the river so it;s easily accessible.
  • Seems very popular and there was a queue to enter. The mouth of truth can be seeing from outside within a few feet. It seems that everyone wants to try it. There are two more important monuments just in front of this place and Circus Maximus is within 200 meters
