Where to stay in Paris

Each of the city’s 20 arrondissements, or districts, has a personality all its own. If you prefer high-end accommodations and to be in the middle of the action, look for lodging in the 1st through the 4th arrondissements. For more affordable lodging and access to major metro lines, try the 12th. The Oberkampf area of the 11th arrondissement has an edgier, more hip vibe. For easy access to tourist sites,  the 16th is within a stone’s throw of the Arc de Triomph and the Eiffel Tower, and the 17th is within walking distance to the Champs-Elysées. Avoid the 18th, 19th, and 20th, because these can be dangerous, especially if you’re not familiar with the city.

  • Like the High Line in Manhattan the Coulle Verte is an old unused railway transformed into an urban park. It's about 4 km walk which provides a blissful escape from the city hustle and bustle. There a...  more »

  • I live the place! Paris Municipality transformed a disused railtrack and made it a 4.7km car-free walk in the south east part of the city (starting from Bastille) planted of trees, flowers and other greeneries. It is heaven!
  • A lovely green space in the middle of the city. Beautifully landscaped. Very friendly environment - people come here to chat with friends, enjoy their lunch break, jog, walk, or simply appreciate the beautiful surroundings.
  • Secret gem in Paris. Feeling of being in the quiet green countryside while being in the middle of busy Paris. It is a park on a bridge that is a few kilometers long. Best promenade in Paris if you ask me.
  • Love this spot. Not only are the shops so interesting underneath but it's what inspired the highline in NY. It's nice to feel like you're in a park in the sky with some beautiful views. Lots of people enjoy the walk, a little chat on a bench or jogging through
  • A pretty long Balade that get your mind outside of Paris while being int the middle of the city!
