  • beautiful green in the heart of paris. Airy and relaxing spaces. Benches, water, shrubs...

  • An original promenade, which occupies a former way of disused railway. You stroll between buildings but several meters above the ground which is unusual. To do especially with a beautiful blue sky.

  • We were in the vicinity - Bastille, Gare de Lyon, on our way to Faubourg St. Antoine - and saw this marked on our map. Well worth a detour to find a stairway leading up to this converted railway, now ...  more »

  • Beautiful walking/jogging path! It was fairly popular and busy on a Saturday afternoon, but lots of spaces to stop and enjoy nature above the bustling city.
  • It's actually green and full of colourful flowers but you can feel a lack of care and maintenance as most of Parisian green spots. At least it's superficial. Though its 4,5km promenade is a great alternative to walk between Paris and Porte Dorée. Nothing to do with New York's High Line way more stylish and arranged.
  • Great place to enjoy sun and a bit of nature! A bit like New York's highline, if not better! Greatly recommend it especially on sunny days :-)
  • I loved this little walk in the mornings. It feels surrealistic with the fast paced paris compared to this little trail where people take their time tobtalk and walk.
  • Unexpectedly nice, was surprised by how green and clean the walk was despite being in the city. You can even bring a snack or picnic basket as there are many benches and a few parks along the walk.

Where to stay in Paris

Each of the city’s 20 arrondissements, or districts, has a personality all its own. If you prefer high-end accommodations and to be in the middle of the action, look for lodging in the 1st through the 4th arrondissements. For more affordable lodging and access to major metro lines, try the 12th. The Oberkampf area of the 11th arrondissement has an edgier, more hip vibe. For easy access to tourist sites,  the 16th is within a stone’s throw of the Arc de Triomph and the Eiffel Tower, and the 17th is within walking distance to the Champs-Elysées. Avoid the 18th, 19th, and 20th, because these can be dangerous, especially if you’re not familiar with the city.
